I've pulled out one of my old U2 bootlegs (from the era before they turned to garbage) and had it on this morning. It's an unoffical release from 1984 or 1985 of a live show in Rotterdam.

The Beat, aka The British Beat, The English Beat and Special Beat
I never knew they were called The English Beat in the US until I saw this episode of Bands Reunited. To me they were always just The Beat.

It was The Best in the UK, English Beat in the US and British Beat here, but was interchangeable with the Beat.
-
On another note, my favorite episode of the Bands Reunited series was The Alarm. I was big fan of them too.

Right now....Pink Floyd’s Division Bell album...Lost For Words :like

Nowhere near as cool as the above But ..... this afternoon we ran up a bit of Daryl Braithwaite. When my daughter was an 8month old we filmed a video of her bopping along to ‘Rise’. Now her daughter is 5 months old so we thought we would see how she responded. We did get a bit of a head jiggle but I’d say there is more to come....
I have a bit of an audiophile interest going on at my place, and recently I built myself a set of unusual looking speakers and a DSP+ 6-channel Class-D amplifier that’s sounds better than anything else I’ve owned before. Any like-minders out there?
-
I'm currently cranking this up.
Not really related to anything (and this is the alcohol talking) but I really love this High-Lows song. The unofficial video makes it even more special.

Booker T & The MG’s....Time is Tight🤓

I've been cranking out The Alarm today. The best band to come out of Wales.
-
Thanks Bodø, you've encouraged me to break out some music, something I haven't done for a while.. :thumbs
Thought I'd listen to a bit of "Steppenwolf"

Then I moved on to "Arlo Guthrie"

I've been pulling out some old vinyl for a few weeks now and now doubt will again later today. For the moment though, I am going to look at a bit more footage from last years Tasmania trip. I'm currently making my way to Wilson's Promonotory so haven't even hit the island yet.

I am too lazy to choose my own tracks so when in signal range listen 1080 6IX Perth's golden oldie station:-
http://eu7.fastcast4u.com/proxy/radio6ix?mp=/stream6ix.mp3 (http://eu7.fastcast4u.com/proxy/radio6ix?mp=/stream6ix.mp3)
When out of range just a mix of my cds on usb stick.
edit:- Saturday morning there is too much talk and not enough music for me but put up with it instead of changing station.
-
Quite contrary to my usual listening selection, I have recently been tuning in to FM "ABC Classics" if I am looking for music while travelling.
-
When you start listening to the ABC, that's a sign of old age, Pete! :nahnah
I confess, I listen to the ABC when I go to bed, it sends me to sleep...

One of the things from Japan that I really miss is yūsen (cable radio).
-
MMM Rocks on the app
-
Cable radio!!! Wow, the Japs are sure behind the times. Australia's first commercial wireless broadcast was 19th August 1919 :grin
-
If you heard traditional Japanese radio you'd know why cable radio was awesome. Until J-wave came along few radio stations actually played music. It was mostly talk. FEN (ran by the amercian military bases) played music but their DJ's were cringeworthy.

They have a great sound. The girl has a hauntingly beautiful voice. Shame I don't speak german.

Rediscovering stuff that I used to listen to on vinyl but then forgot about...
This week it's Alan Parsons. His production and mastering skills are just fantastic, and he sounds so much better now than he did on the cheap turntable and tiny speakers I had back then.

My youngest stepdaughter and eldest stepson who share a house together decided to go "vegan" a while back
and, as a little protest after Sue spent Mothers Day with them, I just had to watch (and listen) to the following... :rofl

When I have people over for dinner I always set aside a couple of options for vegans. They can make do or they can sod off. (http://www.footballnews.com.au/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

In my younger days this was definitely one of my favourites - not sure why, but I seem to recall back then thinking, sadly, wardrobe had mixed up what the two singers (brother and sister) were wearing.

They could probably swap hairstyles too...I think his would've looked better on her. :p
-
Strangely, I wasn't looking at the hairstyles then - ALTHOUGH - at that time my hair was easily as long as any in the band - ahh, the mamm er memories.
-
Me neither, and I to had long hair back in the day.

You probably like this one then! :thumbs

Buck Tick is very hit and miss. I like a lot of their stuff, but they have also put out a lot of stuff I don't like. I saw them live in the late eighties. Thirty years on they're still going.

I have Grace Slick's album Dreams on vinyl. Sadly my current stereo isn't really up to doing the album justice. The neighbours are probably happy that's the case.

Some people should stay away from mushrooms.
