Title: Been a while
Post by: Gadget on May 22, 2022, 05:35:40 PM
This afternoon I realised with all the wet weather, and having caught Covid testing positive on Anzac Day, I hadn't taken Aragog for a spin for quite a while.

I checked to see if she would start, and though the lights came on, there wasn't enough charge to start her.

So out comes the battery charger, double adapter from the garage door opener GPO on the ceiling, and extension lead down to Aragog to recharge the battery.

I really do need to set up an Anderson Lead connectors to make it easier.

Jaycar has these 15A connectors, they are perfect to crimp or solder onto a cable for battery chargers..

Just replaced my battery trickle charger, got one from the Repco catalogue, it came with an assortment of leads and connectors which can be swapped around using this type of connector.

This one sits tucked under the pillion saddle for easy access to connect to the charger at the end of a ride.

I use a CTEK Lithium XS Battery Charger which, as the name implies, is for a lithium battery which I fitted some time back.
It comes with one lead with alligator clips and another lead with the standard (female) Ctek plug.
This is what I located next to the back shock adjuster for easy access without having to remove side covers or seat.
I did have to extend the lead though as it wasn't quite long enough to reach that location.

There are numerous model Ctek chargers available (with the same leads) if you're still running a lead acid battery...
I also have one of these from before I swapped over to a lithium battery which I use on my second ST and car, when needed...

Cheers Leo!

One thing I'd recommend buying is a silicon rubber bumper to suit the particular model you have.
I bought 2 of them and they've saved the chargers from damage a number of times when they've hit the concrete after I've accidently walked into the power cord...    :thumbs
