Here's a pic of my two wheeled ride for the past two weeks:

The bike is a Giant ATX, 21 speed with STi shifters, high pressure road tyres. It was a trade-in from my bicycle shop days, I usually only paid around $50 on a trade-in, so over 25 years, I reckon the kids and I got some value for $50.

Anyway, where was the pic taken?

Giant use to source very good components and put together a very good bike; not sure about recent or current models.

I couldn't get a deal with the Giant distributor (my little shop didn't have the volume they demanded), only ones I would get were trade-ins. I have another Giant, a Farago, which I bought in 1987 (pre-bikeshop days), it still going strong, it's a bit like grandfather's axe, the only original part is the frame, all components have been changed / upgraded two or three times.

Anyways, back to where's this?

This the Giant Farago, it's an old, heavy (by today's standards), but reliable, fast and good enough to carry me around the bay in a day back in 2006.

Well, probably both, but I think Bells Beach more so ... from Wiki: Bells Beach is the home of the world's longest continuously running pro surfing competition – now known as the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach.

My first memory of Bells Beach is in the early 60's when Dad took my older brother (Jeff) and me on a search to find it. Jeff was 5 years older than me and a keen and competent surfer (unlike me at 10 years old), after we found the beach at the end of a long gravel track and even longer walk through the bushes, Jeff surfed until he went blue from the cold, waves were far too big for me so I sat on the beach with Dad.
