:blk11 :dred11 Wendy and I left Canberra Sunday morning around 9am with Shane and Jean and headed off to Yass, Binalong, Boorowa and then onto Crookwell for lunch. Walking back to our bikes we were greeted by Ruben, who is a wonderful ambassador for the STowners club. Thank you Ruben for the catch up. We then headed of back home through Gundaroo and then home, great ride around 350ks. Love our new ST1300, 8 days old now with 1050ks on the dial. Cheers Peter. :thumbs

Crookwell is a nice little town. My Mum lives there and there are some nice cafes there now. Beaut road to Goulburn but it makes you want to go faster to take advantage of it!! :D

Hi there Peter and Wendy,
I always get a real Buzz at seeing an ST out and about and meeting fellow pilots. I found it particularly humorous that two ST13's were escorting the one Harley, I do believe I may have dropped a remark or two to that effect. Funny how a shared interest is all that is needed to spark an immediate mateship.
I similarly had a good group ride with fellow Ulysseans having left Sutherland at 9am taking the old Highway to Bulli tops, then down to Albion Park to begin the ascent of Macquarie Pass, going past Roberston to a little tea house at "Werai" for morno's. after a nice cuppa it was back roads through Bundanoon to Marulan to refuel a cruiser. from Marulan to Goulburn then Crookwell for lunch. The return trip was back to Goulburn for another rider to refuel and then a lazy 110Km/h on the highway back to Illawong. Got home with 471K's on the odo and refuelling showed that I still had 6 litres to go to empty. You just have to love the range on these bikes, it just wants to keep on going even if I'm buggered. It was nice catching up with Peter and Wendy and their fellow riders.  :thumbsup

Rodd, I agree on the roads, but you can't afford to go crazy with the Police Academy breeding (young) storm troopers with an overdeveloped sense of duty right there in Goulburn.  :law

Hi All, I have to agree all the roads into Crookwell are fantastic, just a lovely little town. We have been very lucky so far, never won a prize from the local constabulary yet, I guess it will happen one day.  :nahnah

You'd expect the Academy would be teaching the recruits all the best tricks with the latest technology.
There's probably even a competition running...     :law
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Have never been to Crookwell, so I looked it up on Google maps.

Very nice place by the look of it and a few local photos on Google and Wikipedia.

Interesting that it was originally named 'Kiama'.

Must try to get up that way one day. Nothing better than covering new ground
I reckon.

happy travels

I had to miss this one as was a bit further north.  The road from Crookwell to Taralga is a nice one, with only a few kms of gravel that is being sealed as we speak.  Some lovely nice new bits of bitumen which are 70kph posted and wonderful to ride.
