Hmmm far to many of us under 40 here thank you, my dad is in the Ulysses
-
Fellow ST ... ers
Remember - it was the older among us who have set in train (ideas, practices, plans, initial productions etc etc etc) all the technology & technological innovations you now have before you.
Did your parents not advise you - respect the older (read crinklies) people around you.
I could be more than 40 & less than 70 - and I am still learning after ..?8years riding the only form of transport - two (2) wheels.
Keep up the good banter - ripper Rita - ST...irrers.
Bob
:dred11

:hatwave ST1300 Rider 43 years of age and a Ulysses member, and damn proud of it :13Candy :beer
-
so here is the question, why is there not many under the age of 35 riding an ST?
-
There are actually more than I would have expected. When younger I might have gone more for a Sprint 1050, and Bandits are really cheap for how good they are. You can put up with sporting compromises a lot more when younger. You have to have been there and done that to get towards what you really want. When younger bikes like the RG500 held my interest a lot more I can tell you, but I kept the sensible all rounder in the GS1000 Suzuki.
-
Another young bloke here, :runyay
Just had my birthday at the start of the month :beer and am now 32 :eek
I love my :blu13 and I don't know why more young guys don't ride the ST they are awesome :-++

34 here. Wishing I had come across these beasties earlier :)
Cheers, Shaun

I am with Shaun. If I was in a position to I would have/should have bought an ST in the early 90s as it just meets my needs both then and now.
-
34 here. Wishing I had come across these beasties earlier :)

I'm glad I learned my lesson fairly early too. Back in the UK, although things are changing it's still predominantly a sports bike culture. I'm glad I've had a FireBlade but I was ready to get rid of it before moving over to Oz. IMHO, on the road at least, road bikes are just as quick but much more enjoyable due to comfort and practicality. I wouldn't get another sports bike unless I was going to use it as intended, on the track.
-
Aj, remember Growing older is compulsory. growing up is a matter of personal choice!!
:thumbs
Old enough to know better, and young enough not to CARE!

A well-handled ST get through the twisties plenty fast enough and has power to spare. Sure the Fireblades and Blackbirds are lighter and quicker through the sharp turns but the road goes on a lot longer than the twisties do. You're not long out of your 20s before an hour hunched over the fuel tank becomes hard work. That's when the ST loss of flickability for steady enjoyment pays off.
Anyhoo, I detect a :hijacked so I'll take my :spank

Just got back from a Week away trying to hide from my Birthday officially an old fart now 55

Almost 56 here, however being born at an early age, (a premmie) am actually more mature than the birth certificate says. :rofl
George Wyvern (red dragon 1300) is now turning 10 and his only health problems are heartburn and running out of gas. :H
-
Stuff up - should say "less mature than BC says". That makes more sense. :o

I am 54, not retired but not at work either. I am just on extended holidays just for a while :thumbs :runyay as work decided I needed a long paid vacation :beer

I can't wait until I can wear the 70 YO tag.
Then I'll just ride around all day enjoying semi retirement, and with an arsenel of smart arse retorts to age related insults ('ticularlly them young whippersnapper Osifers of the Lo) in my head, life's going to be fun. :law :crackup
The ST will be a classic as well, so I'll be a right old showoff. :grin (Watch out you chiccy babes!) :eek

Leaders please note. :-++ Honourable discussion on aged member folk gives me a thought. :think1 (It wasn't painful either) |-i
Next to Ulysses, we would have to be the most predominant motorcycle group in the state (Qld) and the probably matching any in the country in activity.
Maybe our Lordships of the OzSTOC Cavalry could ponder how we could become an influence for the motorcycle community.
Our age range, maturity and experience could very well make us a relevant potential in political circles when it comes to regulations etc.
What thinkest thou, Captains and troops? :phone :think1

Well from my end, to be honest i love the club and that is where my spare time goes, i think if i stepped out into other ventures, i might just be shot drawn and quartered, and quite possibly sleeping on Diesels couch.......
agreed that we might have some influence here and there, but we dont have the troops to be stepping into that part of the world at the moment, unless i win lotto then i am buying a house on the hill and raising the OzSTOC flag for all to see!
-
Hi Rex - after discussing your query behind the scenes.... we came up with this point of view....
We don't have office bearers, so no one can really officially represent the group. The Ulysses club and MRA are doing a good job, and seem to know what they are doing. If members of OzSTOC also belong to MRA etc and wish to go to battle, then more power to them. We know of a few Members that are active in these groups.
We would be more than happy for members to post information and findings from the MRA as a conduit for information so other members can read it if they want.
OzSTOC was born as a social club with no politics, rank and file, and keeping it simple, our feeling is that it should stay that way.
Thanks for your question. :thumb
Cheers,
The OzSTOC Team

Hear, Hear, STevo.
Ya can't have rebellious thoughts if youse are organised folks.
There's something very freeing about tootling around at the speed of a thousand startled gazelles, unshackled and unorganised, the latter of which I am good at.
If you have someone wanting to stand up front yelling "Orl right you lot", even in civilian tones, something fades from the lustre of the day.
-
Hey Everyone I have just moved out into the over 66 age group.

67ish . . . . :hatwave

At least I have another nine years before moving up a group...and I plan on getting to the last group if possible.

51 here.. but my first impression when I they talk about someone on the news being aged 50 or more i think..oh an older fella.. then I remember.. I'm in that age group!
-
It would be interesting to know just how many members are aged over 70 years of age, and who is actually our oldest member. I might be wrong but I think Biggles might be close to taking the cake, and I could possibly follow not too far behind. :grin
Well, come on, cough up, who's it to be. :well
-
66 Years Young & still a Rev Head thanks to the Mighty ST so don't worry about getting older at least you get respect from the younger one's. :think1 :13Candy

:think1 Is it Harieg?
-
Would it be too hard to repair that poll?
It's nonsense having the overlap. When someone turns say 45, do they move up a level or stay in the same level for two years?
It should read
25 - 35
36 - 45
46 - 55
56 - 65
66 - 75
75 - fossilized
Probably too late now 133 people have voted.
Would certainly keep Pockey amused for a few hours. :whistle
-
I'm more inclined to believe it might be Biggles, then possibly myself! :grin
:think1 Is it Harieg?

You're right mate, I have never seen him, however, I did check out his profile on the members list, and when he joined in Jan 2012, his age was listed as 71.........that makes him 72 does it not??
Bugger!!!!.........just checked your's out as well!!! :|||| For some reason I thought you were 75, sorry mate, not sure where I got that from.
I'm wondering now if I could be the oldest in the club.............73 last birthday!! :grin
