Over the last 3 weeks I've been doing some work on Golden Brown for her 18th birthday (nearly 100,000kms). I realise that the ST1100 is a pretty reliable beast but I decided that it wouldn't hurt to do some preemptive maintenance.
Work completed includes:
•timing belt replacement
•all coolant hoses replaced
•radiator flushed and cap replaced
•all vacuum lines replaced
•steering head bearings replaced
•carby to head rubbers replaced
•fork lowers stripped and repainted
•fork dust seals replaced
•electrical wiring tidied up
•dash repainted
•topbox mount bracket repainted
•several fairing cracks fibreglassed for strength
•wiring installed for CB radio
•carbies balanced
•spark plugs replaced
•oil and filter change
•new front tyre
It took a fair bit of time but I took her for a run today and she was running sweet. Here's hoping I can look forward to another 18 years of this relationship. :beer

I'm sure that Golden Brown appreciates the TLC, and a photo would be nice. :popcorn

Very wise to attend to all those "wear items". Your diligence will be rewarded with another 100,000 kays of reliability.

You could be in for bike of the year if you attend the Nat Rally at Wooli in October :thumbs

Not likely to happen. I am lucky I can still do the SCA Poker Run in September since we have lost another staff member at work.
