Title: An interesting video for those of us who do the 4x4 thing
Post by: Brock on February 01, 2019, 10:22:47 AM
An interesting video for those of us who do the 4x4 thing. We all at some stage will need to be recovered, or do the recovering.

Check this out, do not try this at home kiddies.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFD4Fd03bq8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFD4Fd03bq8)

That's pretty scary, and a good reminder to use proper rated attachments when recovering or towing.   :eek

No wonder it snapped when you have the other end of the car strapped to a tree and you take off like a bat out of hell.

Well yeah that was my thought too.  I'm sure that safe recovery techniques don't involve flooring the throttle before you've taken up the slack.

The vid wasnt about safe recovery, but was trying to show what happens when the towball lets go. Who knows what stresses a towbar has been under over the years, I dont want to have a cannon ball launched at me

My son did a recovery using my Triton, and bent the new towbar

Thanks. Point taken. Pretty freaky what it did to the back of the Jeep.
