Winston 66,
After a lot of thought and a couple of prototypes this is my modified version of a swivelling trailer hitch.
The basic unit was as supplied from the trailer package and if the photos work you will be able to see that the swivel coupling consists of a 5/8 inch by 2 1/2 grade 8 unf bolt and two nuts to suit.
The bolt is fitted into the reciever (hitch) which was modified by making an insert out of some 50 by 5 mm flat bar and some 6 mm U channel cut and welded so as to fit into the pressed steel hitch and then was  drilled to accommodate the  2 1/2  bolt ,  this large bolt was then welded into the insert ,and this was then bolt fastened into the hitch.
A similar insert was fashoned to fit into the draw bar proper, This was also drilled out and the two large high tensile nuts to take the 5/8 inch(swivelling) bolt were then piggy backed and welded into the  pre drilled out insert which was then   bolt fastened into place inside the draw bar proper.
The trailer coupling proper was then married, (screwed) into the draw bar and this then allows the hitch to rotate about the axis of the  large bolt and the draw bar as required when in use.
A road test proved successful, and so I am now looking forward to some travells, so you lot had better look out as you dont know when you might get a visit.
Cgeers to all, Winston66 Northampton.

Not bad Winston

I would recommend a goodly amount of grease to stop binding.
