Weather Across the Snowy Mountains
« on: December 24, 2012, 07:48:38 PM »
I've ridden across the Snowy's three times in summer, but what's the latest in the season that you'd do it, so as to avoid ice and snow.    A group of us are looking at Cooma, Jindabyne, Corryong, Abury, Mt Beauty, Omeo, Bairnsdale, perhaps in May 2013.

I would normally say you would be safe to ride in May as its usually the first or 2nd week in June that you will see the first snow. This year however snow arrived about a month earlier and it was one of those hard cold dry winters we used to get as kids round here. :o  :think1
I would plan for  April, early May Pete

Thanks Tony.   A lot will depend on when the guys can get time off work, but if it looks like being an later than the beginning of May, we'll leave the trip to early summer.
