Well, I don’t think I’m going to make it guys, my GPS planned my rout around a road that doesn’t exist! I’ve just pulled over to see where the hell I am, and it’ll take me nearly an hour to get to Ruffy!! I might visit my sister in Euroa while I’m out here...

Have a great lunch all!!

The joys of modern technology.  Last week I discovered a road that I didn't know existed on the way to our RTE.

Finding a road that shouldn’t be there is MUCH more convenient than not finding one which SHOULD be there!!!

Hey Terry, you nominated the venue, I just started the thread.

Good day out, good ride, good weather, great company, 21 attended, 11 ST's, one BMW, one tin top - best VIC turnout since the 2014 NatRally at Ballarat, except for Mansfield, Inverloch, and any other get-together of 21 plus.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Thanks for an excellent day everyone, right on the money with the Reubens & the sensational “ oh so healthy” orange blossom cake with cream & rhubarb. 10 out of 10. Val missed a beauty.
And the ride was excellent too, see you next time

Hi,

Thank you for a great RTE, great weather and great turn out.

Thank you to those who gave me some advice on my Speedo, got home and installed my phone mount (made a right mess of it however) but at least I now have a way to know how fast I am going... the just above 3k revs in 5th, is actually just below 100kph so perfect, just hope I did not get done in the 50s and 60s.

I have a couple more pictures of the bikes I will put up soon.

Definitely head back to Ruffy, it was a good venue, and good food, especially the desserts.

Oh and yeah Marcus, I think I was trying to be clever and found a shortcut only to find a dirt road, that got worse and worse and ended up having to turn around and head back the way I came.  But made it back no problem.  Look forward to the next one.

Just to say that this is a ride that should happen again. So So good. This was my first after Mackay, and it was needed. The bike is brilliant and always a pleasure to be on. These RTEs are the best, such good people. So many, I can consider friends. Nigel  :wht11

Ahhh, so I wasn’t alone in having speedo troubles then?! I’d noticed the night before that I’d lost the screw holding the cable to the drive, planned to steal one from one of my other Honda’s before finishing up for the night, but then promptly forgot!!! It came out when I hit a bump just before getting on to the Western Ring road...

I pulled up to zip-tie it back together but found I’d lost the little spindle (or is the spindle attached to the inner cable on the ST? If so, I’ve lost the whole cable!), with some quick reprogramming of the gps, I could at least keep an eye on how I was going.

...but yes, 3K in 3rd is 60, 4th is 80 and 5th is 100, or thereabouts!

Thanks Steve,

I have managed to get my phone attached, but not confident that I won't lose it somewhere without somehow keeping it attached on a leash to the bike... lol

I am not sure if it is a snapped cable in my case or the spindle that goes on the wheel, I am not game to touch my bike after the coolant fiasco so might keep with the GPS for now and have an expert look at the problem which it might have been their fault anyways, just hope it is the cable, much easier to fix.

Ahhh, I’ll need to look up your recent posts, I had a bit of a “coolant fiasco” a few years ago as well!

Unfortunately it is not something I have posted about.  I did mention as my reply to attending this RTE that my bike was in the shop and cost me nearly $2,000 to have the Water Pump replaced... don't know if it was just a coincidence that it went but it does seem funny that I decided to try and replace the coolant in my bike and used proper cleaning products because the stuff that was in the bike was absolutely disgusting.

I am not very good with maintenance on a motorcycle, and need to attend some kind of course to help me do my own maintenance, and save myself a lot of money.  Unfortunately I don't have access to a lift, which would be much much easier.

I probably would have been able to do the work myself, but I certainly know it would be unlikely that I would be able to get it back together, and be stuck without a bike.

I'd definitely be up for that, seeing as our new house doesn't have a garage to work on the bikes in!!!
