Irrespective if you want to take on an IBA ride or just do a long casual trip, then there is some really good information listed here:

I like number 2.

I often get the same cars pass me two or three times.

Number 16

Is a bit difficult out here when you might be riding the Nullarbor for example.

Number 24

Especially at night.  A truck can run over a roo or worse and you wouldn't see it laying on the road..........
