Leak behind dash
« on: March 29, 2024, 12:09:56 PM »
Hi, my friends 2002 st1100 has an amber thick liquid (looks like tree sap) leaking over the front mud guard and appears to be coming from back of the dashboard. Can you shed any light on what this could be.

It may be a leak in a front shock absorber, or front brake line. There isnt anything behind the dash that holds fluid. Give the whole area a good degrease and re check

Thanks for your reply but not any normal fluids more like tree sap in colour an consistency appears to be coming from behind dash. I was thinking  an electrical over heat causing something to melt or an insect colony but could not see any signs of this.

Puzzling ..

You/he will need to take the screen off and have a look, It will be interesting to see the cause.. Anything electrical that can cause that, can start a fire..
