Problems with the temperature gauge?? Try this.

(1/1)

Dennis:
Hai,

a friend of mine had a torn hose under the carb, so we renewed the hose as the coolant.
Warming up the engine we noticed a leak.
It was just a matter of just turning the screw of the clamb.

We coudl only do that by loosing the bolt where the thermostat is attached on the frame.
Then we noticed no leak, but the temp gauge did not work.

I said lets, put back the thermostathouse at his place and my friend said: what if the thermostathouse is the ground of the gauge.
And yes, we just put the house on the frame and the gauge worked again.

There are issues with the temperature gauges, but i have not heared from this "solution". so that why I share it with you guys.
Make sure the themostathouse is clean and clean the spot where you mount it on the frame.

It could save you a lot of work  :thumbsup

Good advice. There are a couple of primary ground points on the st1100 but you still have to attach things properly to access them.

Dennis:
Jep, sorry if my english is somewhat difficult to understand, due to the fact that i had to use proper words.

If so, please do feel free to adjust my topic regarding my english,

We had some people who wanted to buy a new thermostat. But after cleaning the bolt as the mount where the bolt is attached to, the gauge worked fine again.

regards
dennis

Biggles:
Good to share wisdom like that, Dennis, especially with photos.  People can use the "Search" button when they have a problem and will be taken to the solution.

Your English is probably better that the Dutch of all of us on the Forum in Oz, combined.

(apart from any Ozzie Dutchies...)   :grin
