The Travellers Rest Hotel was established in 1908, and passed through four generations of ownership until 2016.
The building that we see today was built in 1937 at a time of peak farming activity in Thorpdale.
Located a stones throw from the old Thorpdale Railway station, the hotel was designed to cater for local needs and an increasing
amount of road traffic at 'this hitherto unknown beauty spot'.
Originally founded as a hotel and a general store, the business is now transitioning to becoming an iconic destination for
locals and travellers to this region.

I’m a maybe for this one. I have to drop the ST off in Melton that day so will depend when I can get a lift back to Gisborne where I’m staying.
Normally, I would be able to assist, but under the current circumstances I won't be able to commit to the RTE, or a further trip to Melton or Gisborne.

Not too fussed about where, as long as my public transport commute to the CBD isn’t more than about 45 mins and there’s secure parking for the car and the ST. Looking at paying up to about $450 a week..... going house hunting, again…

Yes, enjoy the ride, the lunch and the company of friends.
Looks like I've picked a good time to be suffering from sore ribs. Even a 1.5 hour trip (each way) sitting, some bumpy roads with a seat belt would too much for this old fella at the moment.

Glad it all went off without a hitch...Sue & I would have loved to have been there but duty called! :'(
I suppose I shouldn't complain though as we had a massive feed at the Old England Hotel in Heidelberg, so much in fact that we didn't bother with dinner!
So much for our diets...oh, well, back to it on Monday... :beer
