I walk alone.
« on: January 29, 2019, 12:02:00 PM »

I am here with a very heavy heart. I lost my best friend, my companion, my reason to come home. KIMBA, no not the town in SA.
Kimba Crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. She was peaceful and entered  the fields with her coat glowing, her hair wafting in the breeze, looking like the Stately fine Ol' Girl she was. Kimba was cremated starting 8pm last night and I cried uncontrollably until a Valium my other meds and my sleeper did their job and I passed out. Today I walk alone.
Kimba gave me 15yrs of genuine unbridled friendship and love. I gave her the best I could and she has the respect of many other people and their dogs. Everyone loved her gentle nature. Below I copied from a post I posted elsewhere. the link to FB is back a few day before , then yesterdays post. My facebook page has more posts if you'd like to read our story.
https://www.facebook.com/johnny.whitehead/posts/10214730686635390  then continue the timeline below
I had an amazing day, 1.58am it started. Its was very comforting for my heart to have given Kimba a farewell that she deserved. I cannot describe the peace I felt saying goodbye, bathing. grooming and preparing her to cross the bridge in all her splendour and oozing charm, and the calmness she expressed in life.
Gary has experienced today that he has learnt new strengths he didn't think he had, experienced and shared in the special bond that Kimba and I have, and he honoured that with me. I owe him so much gratitude for helping me today, Kimba will watch over you also.
I am at peace I am OK. my new journey begins, I'll never ride alone. my journeys on STrangler may be longer as there's no need to find someone to watch over and keep her safe while I'm away. Kimba will be in my heart forever, she has left an indelible mark on my heart.

Hi Johnny.  I was so sorry to read that you've lost your long term companion Kimba, and no words of mine will alleviate your heavy loss.   Our dogs become an integral part of our lives, and give uncondtional love and companionship, and we are always better people for having them around.  We offer our sincere condolences.

Johnny,

I know how you feel, today our rescue Pug Honey crossed the brige.unfortunately her passing wasnt easy. I think she was suffering dementia, as well as other problems and would some time get lost in a room. Yesterday afternoon I heard a strange noise near the shower window so went out to investigate.

I found Honey "asleep" with her nose next to a potplant in the full 40C sun. She wasnt asleep, but unconscious. It took and hour of soaking her with water in the laundry tub to cool her off and start to come around and eventually drink some water. This morning she had relapsed and was in a very bad way, so was taken to the vet. Now she is resting in the shade of a lemon tree in he backyard.

To Johnny and Brock,

Our condolences to you both. Making that final call on behalf of our beloved pets has gotta be one of the hardest things we have to do. Thanks for sharing about it.

Cherish the memory Johnny. I read recently that dogs are the only ones who love you more than themselves.

Garry I believe it true, all my  previous  dogs showed that trait, including Kimba.

Sorry to hear this Johnny, striking a raw nerve here too.

I lost one of my two dogs 3 weeks ago. A beautiful Maremma who took his guardian duties to the end. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, I hadn't seen him for two years, but shed tears when he went. He lost this time to a brown snake, after winning many other battles. The benefit (if any) is that I was able to see my other dog, an old Border Collie now, rebond with him and say goodbye to him. He's now 14 and doesn't have much sight left. At the same time, had to send a dog back to rescue as that wasn't working out for us.

Kimba was a Maremma x but she was just a black Maremma, She had 2 blind goats from 12 weeks then about 4 months about 20 kids we bottled, when they moved into the other herds she had 6 poddy calves, who grew up and Kimba would sit on them if the layed down in long feed grass, to let me know where she was, Chickens were another, then I got sick and moved off the farm and Kimba became a wanderer  like me, and I was her herd, she was social and always the other dogs she met on her journey loved her.and most people...
Your Border Collie probably gets around ok if you don't move the furniture, the 2 blind goats spent years walking in circles 1 clockwise the other Anti, clock and Anti were their names they must have butt heads 50 times a day trying to find each other..
