IT'S HERE IT'S HERE!!!!! :runyay :runyay. :runyay and the poor postman is covered in lipstick. :grin
The wait is finally over. Our new lounge has arrived by way of a Russell Day Long seat.
It looks sooo inviting, can't wait to hit the road even more now, trying to convince ST2UP that he needs a mental health day and to take me for a ride. :thumbsup

It's certainly a very big modification on the standard seat. All the peripheral support is there. Now to test the anti-numbbum foam component.
I'm impressed that the postie fitted that in his saddlebags AND found Guyra!
The top pic looks like Chris has a pretty decent cup holder installed.

Very nice :thumbs - Me thinks it will be BB who will be napping on the trips away now :p :grin

Looks the goods!!!
Got me thinking now. :)
Too rude to ask the damage?

$600 USD + Frieght and you supply a seat base, virtually everyone who has bought one say's the same.....the cost is soon forgoten when you spend some hours in this saddle.
Will most likely put our OME seats up for sale after we have had some play time with this one.......also see Airhawks and perhaps Goodwool sheep skins that was made to accommodate the Airhawks, so that considerably reduces the overall cost aswell.

Chris, I'll put my hand up for first refusal on the sheepskin if it's not too much for my budget.

What :thumbs a seat for the Royal toosh's.

Well with work having me tied up until Sunday for any more than a ride across town, here is what I can report.....Support and riding Position WOW !!!! :thumbs The noticeable real difference is because of those very supportive wings on the riders seat you need to slide to the tank more than I ever did before on the OME seat for both feet on the ground manoeuvring.......it also seams to limit your range of movement for your legs.......needing to take smaller shuffling steps.
But nothing I won't adapt too.

It looks reeeeaaaaaally comfy

Here is a report on the Russell Day Long seat from rider and pillion perspective.
We only had the opportunity due to other comitments to do a 200km ride today.
Rider - Chris found the seat very supportive with its wrap around shape and support underneath the upper part of his thighs. He has never felt the need to slide off the seat when cornering but was concerned that this would be an issue, and found the complete opposite, that the seat supported you on that side of your body whilst cornering.
Chris has his seat in the middle height setting at the front and the second lowest at the rear, and the seat just bekons for you to use the high way pegs more often.
Pillion - I found the seat a little slippery in my textile pants, but because of the scollaped cut of the seat I had no side ways movement and only minimal forward movement. The seat was extremely comfortable and supportive overall and I feel I could travel far greater distances that I could ever travel on the Honda seat with the air hawk and sheep skin cover although they were a great time addition to the Honda seat.
I found the seat about 2.5cms higher than the standard seat and didnt need to look around Chris as much as I used to. The only negatives that we could find was from a riders point of view Chris needed to slide forward a little to put his feet down, but is getting used to it, and from my point of view with my lack of height, standard pegs may have been a struggle for me to reach with the increased seat height, but thats been solved prior to this with raised foot pegs.
So overall as a long distance touring seat we dont know how it could be made better. :thumbsup
Pockey and ST2UP.

I had had a nice mocha just before we headed home and still had a pensioner nap, soooo comfy, I mite have to charge $5 a sit at Inverell :nahnah

I'd pay a tenner just for a double shot with 1 brown sugar . Supply & demand .....
Perhaps a mobile coffee machine towed behind the Steed would be a lucrative proposition :think1
-
Thanks for the seat report. I'm quite keen to have a look at it while at Inverell.
-
Money well spent by the sound of it :thumb

After trying out the Russell Day Long Seat at Inverell :thumbs :thumbs
Very well put together and very comfy. Now I see where they got the name from "Day long Seat" :thumbs
-
soooo now that you have been 'at one' with your seat for over 12 months is there any further feedback from either driver or pillion regarding this seat?
Do you still feel that a 600 price tag has been worth it?
What would you ask for to be done differently if you could "go back in wibbly wobbly time wimey?".
-
I have a very close relationship with my part of the Russell. Nothing will split us up :rofl It was definately worth the $$. As from a pillions point of view I can travel up to 1000kms in one day very comfortably. The back rest is comfy and so are my foot pegs in which I must say a big thank you to ST2UP for making them higher for me I have very short legs so I now find that also a very comfortable position for me.
The other thing that I must add is that since loosing 2 jean sizes I now find that I have a lot more move around room, but you still cant beat a nice leather lounge chair to do all those miles in.
So from a pillions prospective I hope this has helped with your question Spanner.
