Title: Fitting a top box
Post by: kappy5003 on October 15, 2014, 10:34:18 AM
Still in the process of getting AnaSTasia back on the road and have considered for some time fitting a top box.

I've noticed many on Flea bay one in particular is about 60cm wide and 29cm high and only $56 delivered including mounting bracket.

My question is how does a top box affected handling as most of my riding involves highway speeds?

As for mounting, is mounting plate that comes with box best mounted direct to bolts on grab rail or has anyone mounted to a separate bracket like rack I made and attached as seen in pic.(http://)

Thoughts appreciated.

Cheers
Kappy

There is no noticeable effect on the handling of the bike.  Maybe it makes a bad cross-wind worse, but you're already suffering enough not to notice.
One plus is the pillion gets a back rest.
The grab rails are not used for the mount.  All the mounts I've seen use the bolts you used for your rack.

Thanks Biggles,

I didn't actually mean mounting on the grab rails as such, meant using the bolts the grab rails are secured with, that's how I secured my rack.

Is the size I'm thinking of (fits two helmets) the average size?

Yes- anything that fits 2 helmets is ideal.  The genuine Honda one does, but not all the others do.
