michelin PR4
« on: October 02, 2014, 10:32:34 AM »
Well at 18000 kms i am looking at my first set of tyres for the newest member to the house hold, :blk13 i have been watching the forum and the new PR4's are getting the nod from many members, now my dilemma seeing as i would rather spend my dollars on fuel and not exorbitant tyre prices i have been looking on the net and i was filling out the online purchase with Revzilla but they can't supply, is there anywhere else a Perth boy can go  :think1 Any help from wise forum members would be much appreciated.

I just replaced my OEM Bridgestone's  with PR4's a week ago with 18,000km
I got them from Jake Wilson in USA $380 US. I also got right angle valve stems $2 each
Only done 230km on them so far but they good
I only got them from USA because Michelin Australia could not supply them for a few months  :well

You might try a place called Road & River. They're based in Victoria but they have free freight on orders over $100 unless you need in a hurry then you pay for express freight I just got a PR2 for the front of my beaST $189 and free freight to Alice Springs. Tom is the guy to talk to he is most helpful.

 Ride safe. Paul

Brisbane Motorcycles (Honda) are currently advertising PR4s for $440 the pair.
Dunno if that includes fitting and balancing.
Obviously the supply problem has been fixed.

Now Leo i am also interested in the Jake Wilson site however i started with this site a couple of days ago and got colt feet in regards to exchange rates!!! and delivery from the land of stars and stripes, :CB-- Now your price of $380 now can you tell me in Aus dollar what that cost you landed here and have you received them yet, now i have someone here to fit so its just a matter of strapping on the big ones and having a go, i would love to buy here in Australia but when my local tyre shop quotes me $550 a pair fitted :eek well i get a little squeamish, you know what i mean  :eek
Thanks once again to all on the forum

cheers Chris

I haven't got onto the PR4 yet (maybe next set) but my last three sets have been Bridgestone with JW.

In rounded off terms the delivered price in our dollar for me has been about paying the local cost for rear with the font thrown in for free.

Yes it's true our dollar has gone down and the price we pay has gone up a little but that price increase will also flow through to the dealers as the wholesalers (tyre importers) pass on those costs and then at the shop front to us.

At todays rates $US380 is about $AUD433 then you also have to fit the tyre and that cost needs to be added.

My Bridgestone T30 GT cost me $AUD328 to my door and my local car tyre dealer fits them for $15 a wheel after I take it down to them. They don't have the adapter for their wheel balancer so I get the Dyna Beads when I order the tyres and they seem to do the job ok.

I'm about to need tyres again, and PR4GTs are still my favourites.  Now to see if I can get them...

I don't know if this article was bruited abroad previously, but here it is FWIW:
