200,000km Club

Our ST's are getting older, and many of us are cranking up some impressively large number of kilometers, with the engines pretty hard to kill.  I'm certain that a good maintenance schedule is essential to longevity, but I'm not there yet with a mere 175,000km.  Who's turned over 200,000km on their ST, and what advice might you have for long term reliability and maintaining youthful good looks?  This thread might provide some advice for those wondering about the wisdom keeping their bikes for the long haul.

What maintenance issues have been necessary to get you there?

Purchased on May 20th 2006 with only 11,500km.

Changed oil and filter every 12000km as in the book.

First air filter, plug change, valve check and carb balance at 120,000km - early 2012. Valves were still within spec but bike never ran as good as before.

Planned 150,000 timing belt replacement plus coolant hoses. Rebalanced carbs myself - not perfect but better than dealer.

Replaced rear OEM shock with a Progressive one

Final drive repair at 158425 km (Jan 2014) due to lack of or no grease on splines at tyre change intervals - dealer issue. Been ok since the repair and I do the grease myself now.

Cush Drive at 173842km (May 2015)

Just the major stuff listed.

Amazingly the bike still has original head stem bearings, wheel bearings (except LH rear wheel), and nothing done to the brakes (except pads) and clutch.

284,000 km had it since 60,000k;s
oil and filter every 10,00, easier than trying to work out base 12 when one cannot count.
looked at tappets twice, waste of time.
trouble with wrong grease in rear splines, both wheel and drive shaft.
front and rear wheel bearings.
clutch slave cylinder, master cylinder kit and a pin hole in hose, took ages to find.
few sets of brake pads. and all seals in callipers, brake master cylinder kit.
too many tyres
ramflow air filter.
volt regulator.
two timing belts
radiator hoses just in case, some were getting a bit soft
so no problems with engine , just everything else expected with high k's.
brake discs are getting a bit thin, need replacing soon.
no plans to get something else.

My baby turned over 200,000 near Tennant Creek on the way back from Wooli.  Replaced all hoses before the ride to Wooli, other than that, I just get it serviced by a reliable mechanic.

Hi Chaps.

2003 RED St 1300 non abs,
now 201,000 klms
1.steering head bearings at 40,000 klms (think they were not installed properly)
2.Thermostat at 115,000 klms
3. 120.000 klms small electrical connector in ignition came apart.
Still looks and goes like new.. Never had to replace a shim, still within tollerances.
