Hey Brock.............just wondering, are you totally happy with your Drift HD Stealth  ????

I've been looking at the smaller HD model and I can pick one up for $349 including a 16GB SD card + postage thrown in......but the Stealth, now being superseded, can be picked up for $269 incl postage, and I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't be looking at the Stealth. I'm fully aware of the advantages the HD has over the Stealth..........smaller in size.....replaceable lens........lighter weight,
+ SD card thrown in.........but I'm 

How do you find the Stealth??

Stealth is great,battery life could be better but a bigger battery and an external power cord will fix that. also could use a bigger card, money will fix that.

Its easy to use, easy to download. If I was to choose again I would do the same.

It looks like a radar, you really look like a cop bike.no wonder the traffic parted.. Great shots, nice and clear. You needed to get a few shots with the front wheel up in the air.

Yes you can. Just think how impressed it would look, you on the cop bike, radar stuck on the side, sitting at the lights on the rev limiter , drop the clutch and up you go. Maybe put a bag of cement in the top box.
Only taking the p that would be irresponsible  wouldn't it. Take a Viagra and give it a crack.

  Just splashed out and ordered the Drift HD.

  10% off sale convinced me to bite the bullet so I can get some photo's while on my "little IBA type" rides. If the last FarRide is a guide, I should get some good closeups of the local wildlife!

Be interesting to see how the HID spotties affect the photo's, if at all. Just have to figure a good spot to mount the camera!

Ok as promised I finally got around to mounting my drift 170 camera on the bike. I was going to mount this on a ram ball on either reservoir cover, but this proved no good as it sat too low and caught the dash when turning. Plan B  - I remembered I had bought a special mount last year which bolt to the handlebar bolts. This worked and sits the camera up nicely and leaves plenty of room behind the screen when it is down




I havent road tested it yet as its very windy this arvo, but the initial bit of video looks good. I can power it by battery or can run it off the powerlet mounted on the riser.
I also fitted right and left scan mirrors on the screen so I can see behind and to the side when riding. This will give me real benefit when towing the camper trailer. I found last year I couldnt see over the camper trailer to see what traffic was behind or overtaking me till I either went around a bend or got the Mrs to head check. Now I can easily see whats there so that will make for a bit of safer riding  I will get some photos of those up later

Inspired by Mr Diesel i thought i would give it a go after looking around on my budget i picked the Drift HD720p.

This is my first try with it fixed it to dash shelf there is a bit of vibration so need to look at that, first time on two wheels since November  lousy weather we are having.




Hopefully i will get it all sorted for my Scotland trip this year.

I'm going to take a guess from the screen colour that you filmed this from the ST1100 NOT the ST1500?     

The converting/editing can take great gobs of time from your life, so plan ahead with the longer vids/larger files.   

It was great to see around your neighbourhood - I can't wait to get an eyeful of wee bonnie Scotland!

I keep missing some good footage - simply because I forget the camera is mounted and ready to go - I'm still new at this!

I saw blue stuff in the sky

Nice vid, what did you use to edit it??

You can get an external power cable for that cam, and a mike lead as well for running commentary.

Yesterday bit of blue sky rain and hail this morning an inch of snow and still falling.

Yep on the pan yesterday always a tough decision 1100 or 1500 love em both.

Used windows movie maker for editing its already on the computer so works for me  as Diesel said put the kettle on it takes forever.

Didn't want to go too fast can't see the difference between water and ice.

Had a chance to try the Drift HD 720 again today paid £115 for it and on the whole when you look at some of the prices for a video camera i think its well worth it.
Only problem i can see at the moment is in strong light it can wash out the picture.
Screen is small waste of time unless i've got my reading glass's with me.
The remote control is handy with the camera on the remote is straight forward start stop works for me.
Can take still pictures also take pictures constantly and you can alter the time between shots.



No socket for external mike on this one.


Stick on holder for helmet.



Don't want to lose it so fixed to a lanyard.


Remote control on velcro strap can go round wrist or fix on handlebars.

Nice vid Keith - I have the same 'cheapo' suction cup, and it is VERY WELL TETHERED, I can assure you.       


So far, so good - but I removed the polish from the area first - dunno if this helps - but it has been on there for 5 weeks now.     


Remote and lcd screen are two items I missed out on in buying the budget priced model of the Contour Roam

I have a similar suction cup, (not expensive, but not cheap either) If you pick a spot without too much curve, and moisten the cup I found it sticks well. I also had a tether, good thing, as after about two months, the holder let go at 110 ks.

Had a play this morning 0 degrees and threatening snow but hey it didn't.

Mounted on the screen suction cup works well when used properly.

It was a bit shakey but that is the screen not the camera.

Also tried on the fairing i think this one is much better and being closer to the ground you look like your going faster.
