Overnight RTE Walcha Caravan Park Sat 20th/Sunday 21st August 2022

This is a ride in and join your fellow members for a night around a fire.
The Walcha Caravan Park has camping sites and rooms to book.
You will need to bring some food to cook and drinks to drink.
There is a great camp kitchen.
Book your own accommodation with the park direct not through a booking site so all the money goes to the owner.

Location: If you are traveling from Sydney, the quickest and most scenic route to drive to Walcha is up the Newcastle Expressway onto the Pacific Highway via Hexham, Raymond Terrace, Stroud, Gloucester and Barrington. Approximately 16km north of Raymond Terrace on the Pacific Highway, you TURN LEFT on the Bucket’s Way to Gloucester and Stroud. Travel through Gloucester, Stroud and Barrington and approximately 1.5km north of Barrington you TURN RIGHT where the sign says Walcha. Walcha is approximately 142 kms from Barrington. This is the most scenic part of your journey where you cross several rivers and slowly climb up into the New England Ranges with wonderful views of the Giro Valley and mountains as you drive. You eventually get to the Walcha Shire and then begin driving through very picturesque and fertile grazing land where you will see some of the best cattle and sheep grazing country in NSW.

For an exciting return trip, take the Oxley Highway down to the coast.
one of the best motorbike roads in Australia.

I rode Thunderbolts Way on Wednesday 30 March from Walcha down to Gloucester after a great feed and relaxing night at the Historic Bendemeer Hotel. There has been a lot of Roadworks from just before the Nowendoc turnoff heading north to Walcha and the road is in a fine state. BUT from Barrington up to the top of the New England Range at the lookout is still fairly bad in places and roadworks are continuing in places.  Like many roads in NSW there were some large deep potholes and rough surfaces. So take care.
We road in fairly inclement weather and going :grin down the range with very limited vision only about 30 mtrs and less in some places. There were also a few landslip areas too. I was with 3 top shelf Harleys, 2 Road Glides and 1 with the lot, my brother and 2 of his Motley Crew mates and it was my slowest ride through the area. Lol. I was the 2nd rider with his 2 mates behind me.
We took the Taree exit at the roundabout in Gloucester and rode Bucketts Way which is also extremely rough and potholed badly so if your riding through these areas please ride with care.
I shall have to see if I can make this O/N RTE as I may try to finish the trip I started last year but reversed, if I attend this years Border Run. I want to continue across to Perth and finally ride and drive up and down the North West Coast finally. If this eventuates I’ll miss Walcha and finish the trip at the National Rally in Mannum SA.
I ll wait and see how the cookie crumbles. 😎🚐 :Spyder 👀🇦🇺
