So what was the issue with the Beemer OEM seat Pete?

Simple really ......  after just 200km my arse bones hurt.   :butt
I did the 1200km FarRide to Glendambo on the OEM seat, which convinced me to go to the RDL.

So its not just Mr Honda who needs to consult Mr Russell regarding OEM seat design.  :fp  Surprises me about the BMW brand though.

I received the RDL seat for my Beemer a few days ago, and took it for a decent spin today.   I thought the bike was good before, but it's just gone up another notch.   ++ ++

Ahhh!!!   The RDL is very nice.  The front / rear combo I bought for the ST is the ant's pants, bee's knees, etc ....  The wrap around and slightly up thigh and buttock support makes for a very comfortable and relaxed ride.  I haven't tried a 1,200km day ride, but can imagine the RDL could make the difference needed.

I see you have not looked after Chris, hope you don't suffer for it, hope she doesn't read this thread.   Helen loves the RDL pillion more than I do.   Same wrap around and up support, plus a little upward lip at the front which provides a little more support and instils confidence in Helen that she won't slide forward under heaving braking - not that was much of a problem before the RDL.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

I did consult, but Chris is quite happy with the OEM pillion perch on the Beemer, and feels she did not need the upgrade for the distances that she travels.

After using it for 4,000km my RDL seat needs to go back to the USA for "adjustment".    It was never as good or as confortable as I expected, and my bum bones still get sore,  but it's better than the OEM.  After some e.mails back and forth to Russel Cycle Products, along with some photos of me sitting on the seat, they readily agree that the seat is too wide for me and will adjust it free of charge.  I'll send it back after the Junee ride.  It's a bit disappointing, but Russel Cycle Products have been very good indeed.

Pete, I'm just wondering how this panned out?  Did you end up being happy with the seat after they reworked it for you?
A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.

It's come back and I've been on it for at least another 3,000km.   It's much much better, and I'm happy with the result.

Hi , On the subject of seats, a mate has the mjm seat for his BMW GS , swears by it, has anyone else used this brand, i believe the guy is in Goulburn , and custom makes each seat based on the rider, at aprox $500.00 sounded fair. anyway any feed back would be appreciated .
