Instrument Display Disappears
« on: July 16, 2013, 12:29:03 AM »
Hi

When I start my ST1300 lately all of the instrument display goes out while the engine turns over. When the engine fires and starts the instrument display comes back but everything has reset, trip metres and clock resets to 1am.

Is this an early indication of the battery going and not enough amps to both start the bike and run the instrument display?

Yes, the same thing happened to me a while ago...

It was the first sign the battery was on the way out :eek
Shortly after this started happening the battery completely died :'(

I'd say replace it soon mate :thumbs

And when you go looking for a new battery mate make sure to check the local Honda shop.
I was amazed to find the local one has batteries for the ST1300 for $103 :thumbs lots cheaper then the $250 price tag at Battery world :eek

It's a cheaper brand but still has a descent warranty and if there is issues the shop is local :thumb

Same as Shiney.   I had the same problems after Blackheath and it was the battery.  It was less than one year old and Adelaide's Honda World replaced it free of charge and without a fuss.   :thumb

Good to know.  It's an obvious warning, and will save trying to find the kick starter if a battery dies completely.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
