how about a run to help put a tiny bit of economy into a hard hit town like in this article?
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-04-16/hughenden-drought-felt-far-past-the-farm-gate/6398216

Just under 1600 km from my place.
With a bit of judicious planning it could be an IBA ride and overnighter.
Might be an option for the mid week crew and retirees.
Cheers,
Gary

For 2017 or mid weeks for the remainder of the year.

Consider a possible mid week overnighter for the retirees and shift workers. Mid week rates are usually cheaper.
Cheers,
Gary

You could always revisit Nobby's Pub with all that rural heratige on display we visited on the National Rally ride in 2015  :think1

Here are some destinations that Miss Scarlett has mentioned that she would like to visit...

Miriam Vale -  a friendly, little country town with the main street just off the highway.  We would probably stay at a Tannum Sands Big4 overnight for this one.

Yeppoon - a local option for CQ members and an overnight option for others?

Mackay, Eungella, hinterland ranges, canefields, coffee shops... a scenic tour type RTE around our neck of the woods....
"hey Kate.. is it all right if a few members crash at our place for a night or two??"
"Yeah, sure" she says. This RTE's in the bag folks.

Airlie Beach - 'cause it's got great seafood and just the best Rum Bar... sorry we didn't get to share this one with you Diesel.

For RTE ideas and destinations any further North, I'm going to past the baton onto the members of the northern playground.... to come up with some equally kung-fu RTE ideas.   Cheers, John & Kate.

The Yeppoon RTE was popular a few years ago.Stroppy and i have talked occasionally about a another trip up there for another RTE.

Miriamvale from memory is the home of the crab sandwich (at the servo ?).
Stayed at the motel after a session at the pub with workmates...neither of which were memorable  ;-*

Spring creek cafe is built on the edge of the Condamine river gorge          spectacular views
Queen Marry falls coffee cakes  and feed the wild parrots
Shirl and Sandys shop beside the Killarney school has good coffee
The cafe in the Main Street just down from the pub is good as well
Yangan shop good coffee
In Warwick there is Cafe Jackies , Gardens Galore , The Cherry Tree , Coffee Club , The Belview Cafe
If you are into lacquers the Castle at the summit could be worth a visit

Um, STimpy... you all do know about the RTE on the 24th of August.... you know, the one to Yeppoon??  Torrential downpours aside, it should be an excellent day to get in on another OzSTOC flag photo.

Didn't see anyone advertising crab sangas the other day, but the cafes were nice... and so were their coffees. Cardwell seems to be vying for the mud crab sanga crown these days... or unless having an oversized mud crab on your roof really means something else.

We've been reliably informed that the burgers from the Miriam Vale servo are awesome... an RTE will be needed to confirm this fact...

I was referring to a Yeppoon overnighter for us southerners (caravan park)
The roadworks on the Bruce Hwy on the trip up last time were frequent - i don't expect much would have changed  :p

Not too much roadworks last Sunday...bit before Gympie at Cooroy...then at Benaraby the bridge repair almost finished...then the Marmoor to Rocky stretch washed out previous weekend had already been resealed...but then again you could always come up the back way...more than welcome for the upcoming one to be both an overnighter and Sunday lunch
One day you will wake up and there won't be anymore time to do the things you've always wanted so do them NOW!!!
Remember there are 7 days in a week and Someday isn't one of them!

I presume you meant liqueurs. Castle Glen Liqueurs.

An overnight RTE to Warwick sounds like a good idea.
Go via Boonah, Spring Creek Café, Queen Mary Falls, Killarney,
To Warwick,
Home via Texas, Toowoomba.

Yepoon 24th August can be an overnighter. Gav is doing just that. I'm thinking of going up Saturday and staying at my Brother's place in Rocky.

You can always go inland through Biloela to avoid the roadworks on the Bruce.

Sorry folks, stated the wrong date. It should have said Sunday, 21st August.... not the 24th.

Has anyone stayed at "The Riders Rest" near Drake NSW?  I know nothing of it but have ridden past several times whilst enjoying the Bruxner highway between Tenterfield & Casino, most recently last Thursday when it was 38 degrees which got me thinking they probably have a cool pool or creek or something? Just thinking it might make a good overnighter in the middle of some good motorcycling country?
