Title: Battery Tender Junior 800 Battery Charger
Post by: alans1100 on January 10, 2019, 09:36:50 PM
Our 1300 has been off the road longer planned due to delays in getting parts. Usually I start and run the bike for about 10-15 minutes once week but on the last attempt to start the bike it was a no go. Decided to get one of these which I will need when the 1100 goes off the road for some overdue maintenance.

Bought on e-Bay for a cost of $50 delivered https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Battery-Tender-Junior-800-Battery-Charger/153331727834? (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Battery-Tender-Junior-800-Battery-Charger/153331727834?)

As long as it charges enough to start the bike it'll be ok.

Out of the box upside down so these two cables don't fall out.

Includes a clear plastic cover over the unit so it doesn't fall out either.

Choice of alligator clips or screw on ring terminals with a fuse on each lead. Unit plugs into 240 power point like most smaller chargers do these days.

Will connect it up this evening when our forecast 41C temp cools off a little.

Only issue is that I won't be able to remove the side panel due to not being able to remove one Allen bolt.

I can unscrew the negative terminal from the top but so sure about the positive.

Is there a problem with the Allen bolt?

Try tapping allen key with hammer. Not to turn but towards bolt. That sometimes loosens them.

Some thing strange going on/

This the error I get when I try the link:-

"The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you."

When I go to the ST1300 section I can't even see the electrics and electronics area. I can see it in the ST1100 section????

Glen,

I think the problem is in the RTE Coord permissions, you arent the only one with trouble.

Since you have a site issue I'll just let you know that the image shows the damaged hex bolt which prevents the side panel from coming off. Battery was new and installed by the dealer when I picked the bike up. I have a new bolt to go in but so far I can't get this one out.

I managed to get the alligator clips in and battery charged up.

I think it's too shallow for an ezi-out.  I'd be taking it to the dealer and let him get it out.  Failing that, you might have to drill the head off (carefully- don't hit the plastic) then you can get the shank with pliers.
A fine cold chisel might get it moving- again, carefully.

I'm going to take the bike over to our local tyre dealer and get the bolt taken out there.

I'd be taking it to the dealer and let him get it out.

The dealer I bough the bike from is in Mandurah, WA. Don't mind the ride but a little expensive for a bolt.

Bill I think you are correct about normal ezy outs. I have a set of them but also ordered a set of these this week.

https://www.groupon.com.au/browse/sydney?lat=-33.86&lng=151.211&query=Damaged+Screw+Extractor+Set&address=Sydney&division=sydney&locale=en_AU (https://www.groupon.com.au/browse/sydney?lat=-33.86&lng=151.211&query=Damaged+Screw+Extractor+Set&address=Sydney&division=sydney&locale=en_AU)

and deliver is only about $4.

You will find a video about them here:-

Yep- they'll do the job.  At that price they're worth putting in the drawer until that fateful day...
