The balance is fine. The axle is about 440 mm behind the point of balance of the chassis frame, so will transfer a good amount of weight to the tow ball.

I didnt like the suspension mount welds, and the shock mounts were on a bar across the rear of the frame as well as sitting to high (or low depending on viewing point). They were cut off and re sized and  re-fitted. Photos soon

Just wondering??? A few years back I picked myself up an old, like one of the first models of the Klassic trailer for a $1000 and maybe spent a couple of hundred on it for wiring and stuff. Its a ripper cause its just a fraction wider than the bike. So for a cost of around $1200 its a goodin. So was just wondering, whats it cost to build a trailer????
Do you think you could get your money back if you sold it. I know I could get more. Just wondering.
Heres my old Trailer

Here is a pic of the suspension prior to removing it Note the trailing arm mounts and the cross bar for the shocky mounts. The arm is also is to be flipped to prevent over travel.

The rear shock hanger after rework, notice there is a lot less metal, its harder to make but.

Reworked trailing arm mounts. Shortened, cut down from original U bracket

Trailing arm in position, no bolts but

Spring in hanger.

Spring bonnected to the trailing arm

Suspension with out wheel.

Still have to finish the trailing arm mount for the other side, make and fit box securing points, and leg for supporting the towbar when parked to work out.

 My new trailer.
Took a lesson from one of the younger folk that reside with me, about this techno. stuff, so I am hoping that this will work, if it does not , it's not my fault.
Hopefully there will be some photos included with this.
They might not be in the correct order of the descriptions, but hopefylly it will all become clear , if not to me, maybe it will to you.

1st one,  is the basic lay out of the under pod storage box ,which will house the Tent Bed, with side storage bin for longer stuff like a tent pole, or tools and other bulky or dirty stuff.
The ply top with the pod will lift up from the side in order to access the long side pocket.

2 one .
This is another view from the front, it is planed that the bed tent will slide in from an opening door which is accessed ftom the rear.

3 rd. one.
Basic idea with the 12mm. ply on top with the pod in position.

4 th. one
Rear view with the rear access door open in order to extract the tent bed ,and or other items such as the portable cooker, water, folding stool, or anything else without having to lift the pod from the side.
The rear door will have storage built into it, approx 800 by 150 wide by 100 mm. high for small items such as, warm beer supply, cans or dehydrated emergency food, cooking utensials, the afore mentioned stove and its fuel supply, and the myrid of other small items that will inatevially be aquired as necessary along the way.

5 th.
Another view from the side towards the rear.

6 th.
Top and pod moved sideways in order to show the longer side compartment which will be accessed when the top is lifted from above the wheel.

 7 Th.
Top and pod still not fixed down, But pod opened up for stowage, photo from the front.

Other work still to be done is Fixing of the tail lights etc. provision for the esky at the front, possible storage for a spare 5 litre or so of ermergency fuell supply, I still cannot decide if that will be necessay, and probably some other items that I have not thought of yet, one just came to mind, that is , a spare suitable 12 volt motorcycle battery, as a possible spare whilst touring , ( sealed Lead Acid) complete with its own interegated charging circuit, powered from the bike,  a special supplementry circuit ,this will be used for supplementry lighting as well as running a small 150 watt inverter for charging the android and or any other battery operated devices ,
No doubt there will be quite a number of modifications , and remakes of my origonal basic ideas , so if any one has any comments about the concept or anything that has been found to be usefull in practice ,your thoughts will be appreciated.

Cheers  , Winston 66, Northampton.

Interesting approach Winston, it should look good when done.

No need for an inverter to power Android devices, just get a USB 12V power adapter that plugs into a cigarette lighter socket. They are cheap and you will already have the USB cables. You only need an inverter to run something that needs 240V AC. To convert to AC and then use a plug pack is inefficient as it will drain the battery much faster.

Those single wheel trailers look good tho I reckon that it would put a lot of weight over the drawbar & on to the rear of the bike

Been watching a US design that has an articulated drawbar. It seemingly takes almost all the snatch and bump loads out of the hitch. If you were to combine that with bringing the wheel as far forward as poss (with long'l stability in mind) and sensible loading I reckon it could give a setup that as far as achievable imposes the absolute minimum hitch load.

I should b using this layup time with the drawing board on me lap instead of nursey! Lol.

Seen a couple of those single wheel trailers and when the lids off maybe the same room in their as a couple of saddlebags?????? kinda remember something like that being made in Australia for a bit more than a couple of thousand dollars but think the crowd ended up in New Zealand?????? Think they were called UNI-GO

A simpler idea would be a light tube frame to hold the wheel and mount an ST sadlebag to each side with space in between for stuff.

Brock's approach to this wins all the way. I just got an email from the Ukranian firm that builds the Contour trailer to match the ST1300. It's a nice trailer but not $3500 plus paint plus shipping nice.

So, if I ride again, can I copyBrocks's chassis design? Lol.

Its been a while, have just done a little more work. Fitted brackets to some of the angles to enable the box to be bolted down. Also painted the chassis (need to redo the paint in a few places). Need to get some wet and dry to clean up the axle surfaces, then pack the bearings with grease and fit the wheels for the last time.

So far, trailer minus wheels weighs 21.1 KG

The trailing arm right way down
