Hi folks, intending to change the coolant these holidays, wondering what people use? Does Honda have a specific one? I use Nolan "longlife" in the GPz900R, seems to go o.k.

Brock...just how do you know what coolant additives contain Silicates? The only additive I can recall labelling does not contain silicates is Motul.
My understanding of silicates is though they do indeed protect against corrosion of aluminium, silicate drop-out in solution actually contributes to corrosion, especially dissimilar metal corrosion, apart from the silicate particles blocking small galleries, as found in 1100 radiator cores. I think also, that the 1100's passage of coolant throughout the engine lends itself in promoting drop-out.

I mention this as if Tectaloy 90 Plus is a 33% solution, what percentage is 60 Plus? My preference is for a 33% mix is ample. Though not having ask Tectaloy, I have yet to read that their product, doesnt contain any silicates.

I'd stay with the Nulon which is what I used when I did my timing belt.

I would read the product contents list I guess. I havent had to touch my coolant, so havent looked into too much.

I bought some of the Tectaloy for a top-up, rather than a full coolant change and usually have the coolant changed by the dealer who does much of my servicing. I agree that it would be difficult to go wrong with the Honda product.

O.k. then, anybody got a part number for the real Honda stuff?? Might stick with the "tried and true"............. too expensive if I stuff it up!!
(Makes it easier when I go into the dealer if I've a part number)

Dont have a part number. It was on the shelf at the dealer. They wont have trouble finding it.

Found this at David Silver Spares 08C50-C32-1S01 - 1 litre premixed antifreeze/coolant should be the same number as here though I bet you won't get it for $8.46. (4.95 UK pounds)

AND it's under $15, so not more expensive that the car varieties, unless you buy the stuff in bulk for some reason.
