Team,
I’ve scratched my head for weeks now... what is the easiest way to wire in spotlights on an st1100p?
I’ve tried to make sense of the diagram brick provided, but I can’t relate it to the bike layout.. and now I’m looking at an st1100p with all fairing removes worrying about how long it will take to put back together again!
I can see on front right side under side fairing there is 3 connectors.. should I wire the lights into these? And are they attached to a switch somewhere I can use?
I was hoping to use the 9 switch on left hand fairing.. but do not understand where I would wire the lights into.
Does anyone have some simple steps I can follow?
Ie:
Which switch I would use to turn them on/off?
And which cable and where I connect the positive and negative to on that cable?
Yours in utter confusion!
Nick

I can help in another week or so, I am still in thailand, back on 24th..
I dont have access to my drawings, or the bike at the moment.
-
Thanks Brock! If I can’t work out in next week I’ll definitely ask for a hand when you’re back :)
I’m trying to get the installation of the following done this week before heading away for Australia Day weekend:
Spotlights - driving me crazy!
Uhf - I’ll wire this as always on direct to battery if I can’t find a switch for it to connect to
Lighter socket- got this sorted as always powered to battery for time being

As I recall, you have an ex cop bike, so UHF is easy, wiring the driving light isnt difficult, but is a little fiddly
-
Yes I think fiddly sums up the frustration I have with not being able to understand how to do it easily :angry-old-man-smiley-emoticon
I mean there’s plenty of cable to work with because it has the cop harness in it; if only I could truely understand how it works in order to work out best way to do it :)

When you see how its done, it will be easy next time.
I guess I should know how to do it, as I am a 40year Avionics Tech
-
I’m know it will make sense eventually ! :thumbsup

there are 3 wires on each side, all go back to the duck tail, from there I think a 9 pin block connects to the police switch block on the right bar,
-
Thanks Yorkie
I’ll poke and prod around a bit and see if it starts to make sense for me. |-i
-
Correct Yorkie, Cant remember how I did the wiring for my lights, but the 9 pin plug under the seat was used to control them
-
Well I can say...
I tried... and now I’m more confused then ever!!!
I’d love some good ol’ WA helping out if anyone has any free time? I’m based Murdoch wAy. More than happy to travel within Perth metro :)
