Title: Another new owner
Post by: ozhank53 on May 01, 2022, 05:22:48 PM
G'day.

Rode my St1100 2000 ex police bike home yesterday from Warialda to just over Qld border - just a short run of 150km. Sat in a shed for a few years before being rescued.

Need to do a few things to the bike: carby clean and tune, new left hand mirror cover and left hand panel. fix slow leak in front tyre.

I grew up in the Adelaide Hills on a mixed farm. Rode my Yamaha XT660Z all over the state, up and down to Alice Springs, got tired of the vibration from single cyclinder motor. Going to try and get over that way in next 12 months to visit some family.

Thanks mate. Just reading lots of posts about headlight globe replacements. We have a lot of skippies and emus that like playing chicken with vehicles especially autumn/winter.

Our national rally is in Mannum in september.  You might be able to hit two birds with one stone.

And for what it's worth, I used to live in Brisbane before coming to South Australia in late 2005.

Thanks mate. Just reading lots of posts about headlight globe replacements. We have a lot of skippies and emus that like playing chicken with vehicles especially autumn/winter.

A few members have replaced the headlight globes with leds but of course they aren't actually legal so, depending on whether thats likely to bother you or not, they may be the way to go.
Me, I've been happy to stick with H4s...I currently have a pair of Philips X-treme Vision +130% H4s fitted and find them pretty good.
You can get them here: https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/philips-x-treme-vision-moto-h4-single (https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/philips-x-treme-vision-moto-h4-single)

Then of course you could always fit some auxiliary lights...  :popcorn

Do they need an adapter? I read somewhere that one is needed.

Hi ozhank53....

I'm guessing that question was actually meant for me...yes?  :think1

You don't actually need adaptors but the globes will probably sit more securely with them...
In my case my globes were fitted without them without any issues. Since they were installed I did buy some adaptors so they'll get used next time I need to replace a globe.

They can be bought here: https://www.mccruise.com/products/5005 (https://www.mccruise.com/products/5005)

Thanks for that information and link. Ordered. I've already had a "discussion" with a man in blue about the LED globes in my 4WD and do not want another.

That there are. I'd seen the bikes years ago, but have never ridden one until bringing it to home. Very nice it is, but does not like sandy patches on our roads, just like me. Never mastered. So been out on dozer this morning and removed a fair bit of it.

Welcome.

I too, grew up in the Adelaide Hills, and now live in the SA Northern Mallee, south of the Yamba border station. My 1300 isn't keen on sand or any loose dirt, either.
