Isn't it 7 1/4" gauge? bigger than miniature? three sets of stevenson is an achievemnt in any gauge, good stuff, well done
Guess it's relative to what you're comparing it to. It's miniature compared to the prototype but gigantic compared to say HO gauge which is bigger than N gauge.

That's very impressive Les. Well done. Until you put it up there, I had no idea of the mechanics of steam locos. Next time you're in Galston, PM me and I'll come over and say g'day.

Came across this thread and thought I'd post a few pics of a train I inherited from my brother...  8)
It runs on 5" gauge track...
He imported it from the UK and paid some ridiculous amount for it.
I guess its like most hobbies, someone thinks of a crazy price and then they double it or more...  :crazy

I'm really not into model trains at all so one of these days I'll have to try and sell it. In the meantime it's stored in a cupboard.
Any takers???  :whistle

Here's a link to a video of one of these trains on the go.... https://youtu.be/bug-E2KyBa4 (it's not mine)

#Edit: swapped out the video link for a better one...

Given to power cord in second pic, I'm guessing it has an electric motor.

..... In the meantime it's stored in a cupboard.

Must be a big cupboard.

Any takers???

We have four grandsons (from 11 down to 2), and they would all love that, so would grandpa.

Just don't think I have a cupboard big enough.

Thanks for that, Les....I have glanced at that site previously but wasn't so sure it was still operational as no photos appeared.
But, in saying that, I just tried opening up an incognito window in Chrome and they decided to work so it must have been something to do with my browser settings...  :thumbs

I guess the biggest problem for me is how much do I put on it, dollars wise...  :fp :think1

Yes, it's electric...it runs off a car battery.

It's not as big as you may think, Michael...it's just stored in the bottom of our laundry cupboard.
Here it is...

That will give you an idea of pricing.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Ask for $2500, gives some wiggle room. Anything over 1000 is a bonus. If you ask for 1000 they will try for 500..

You're probably right, Brock... :thumb

I had that sort of thing when I was selling my brother's car, the Suzuki Burgman & the Kymco scooter.
Lost count of the times I was offered half the asking price. But , being a stubborn bugger I stood my ground and eventually got a price I was happy with for all of the vehicles.  :grin

I figure it's pretty much a waste of time trying to sell it while this Covid 19 thing is happening...

It can just sit in the Laundry cupboard for a bit longer...unless of course someone feels like giving me a thousand bucks... :grin
