Xenon Bulb For ST1100?

I needed to replace a headlight bulb....so I decided to replace with Xenon, much brighter, (safety) and go away from the Honda bulb to the more generic H4 (that can be bought just about anywhere)..all up cost for the Xenon bulbs (2) and adapters (2) $30....cost for 1 standard Honda one here in Tas, $30...

Do I ride alot at night, no, but at least I should be seen now..  :)

The last of Xenon globes I bought from ebay cost me $1.99 plus postage. As they where basicly tryout globes only wasn't to worried if they failed. Now the price is more than that but includes postage now. I fitted these globes in November 2011 and they're still going. I haven't done much night riding since I've moved back from WA (silly move that was) but they seem ok from the last trip back from Adelaide.

Oh where did you get your adapter rings from.........I have yet to get some.

P.S.

When I replaced the globes, I did it coming in from underneath..I twisted the forks in the opp direction..'cause mine has ABS I couldn't get to them from the top...first one took about 5 mins, the next 30 secs...bloody hard to see what one can't see..
 

I use a small mirror so you can see what is happening as you try and get those wires seated.

Normal 1100P models don't have ABS so not an issue. I know there is a lot less space in ABS models.  In the UK some ABS bikes were used for police duty, but were civilian ABS models with extras added.  I always did my bulbs from below using the mirror.  It is a pain still - either it works first time or you swear for  while

It's much easier to replace your 1100 globes if you remove the black plastic (two phillips head screws) attached to the cowling under the headlight.

I ordered  my adapter rings today as well.

Mine are fitted and seem to work really well....just gotta have double jointed hands,fingers and arm to put the globes back in  ...

Got mine in the post today and fitted this afternoon. LH wasn't a hassle, took 2 minutes, however RH was a pain in the butt. Globe and adapter ring just didn't want to go in together, took 10 minutes to get it right.  Light pattern looks more defined on low beam than it did before.
