End of an era
« on: June 22, 2022, 12:07:40 PM »
Sad news folks. The amazing STella was stolen from our driveway overnight.
Police due here shortly to investigate.
This is quite upsetting. Keep an eye out around the traps.
Cheers, Diesel

I'm glad you'll get her back,  and hope the thieves are caught.    I also hope the CSI's didn't go too nuts with the fingerprint powder as it can be very difficult to remove from old surfaces.

What a bummer!
Here's hoping the scum left it in one piece after they abandoned it...  :X

I'm assuming they ran out of steam after pushing it that far?  :think1

Great news mate. Hope STella is unharmed. You do grow attached to them that's for sure. 15 years ownership for mine coming up in September.

That's a relief!  I agree with Rusty- it would appear they pushed it that far and gave up.  Looks like you need a disk lock or big chain.
Even thieving scum obviously know quality when they see it!

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. STella was basically untouched with only a pilfering of a phone charger from the glovebox and a theft of the dummy key in the panniers. They did not open or force any of STella's panniers - (otherwise they may have hit pay dirt), but she is my same old girl from way back.
Been on a few rides since then and apart from lubricating sticky joints from the fingerprinting dust (such as the fuel cap mechanism etc), she is back.
Don't tell her I have my eye on the new Gold Wing though  ;-*

There would be a few of us giving sly glances at the new 'Wing.  But keep it quiet otherwise the STs may start a mass revolt.

A new 'ST1800' in Candy Ardent Red looks eerily similar to your  :13Candy.
A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.

:think1 A new ST1800 would be awesome though :grin... I'll have to wait a few years for the second hand market price to drop to something I can afford :thumb
