I hope Honda is reading these sort of comments. Price wise the Triumph, even with all the inclusions, goes for the same money as the ST13 in the UK, so look toeards $25,000 in Australia

To me looks a fine bike but I'm one to stick with the names, the backup and support.
Damm sure that either early this year or late last year HONDA dropped the price of the Standard Gold Wing to $25000 here for a while?????
When you get over the $20/22000 mark their is a whole heap of really good stuff to compete against I reckon.

And since the price of the 2012 Goldwing dropped, quite a few good second hand ones around below $20,000 with lots of extras.  Saw last year model GTR14 kawasaki for $19K at the local dealer, which is good value.

Wow, all that electrickery!!
Interesting that the sixth gear didn't give it any better fuel economy than the ST1300.
Everything looks grand, as the Poms say.  But I still can't quite believe it has the same level of reliability as the ST.  Call it blind prejudice if you like, but Honda has the track record in the matter of quality finish, reliability and long service intervals.

I found it very interesting how the panniers are allowed to move thereby eliminating the chance of pan-weave

The ST11 bags always moved around, so perhaps this is why? After reading that I won't bother to try and secure them.

Anyway, I have to get value out of the ST11 first. perhaps when the second timing belt is due (only 100,000kms away and counting down) to be changed and I can't be bothered, or the oil needs changing or some other excuse :)

The review sounds good but as Saaz says why would I bother, there's a good coupla hundred thousand k's left in the 1100 yet. For what it's worth I find the 1100 handles well, is comfortable, has ABS, linked brakes and gets about the same economy as the Triumph and for $22000 + I can do a lot of repairs and farkling to the old girl.
