Fellow ST ... ers

Remember - it was the older among us who have set in train (ideas, practices, plans, initial productions etc etc etc) all the technology & technological innovations you now have before you.

Did your parents not advise you - respect the older (read crinklies) people around you.

I could be more than 40 & less than 70 - and I am still learning after ..?8years riding the only form of transport - two (2) wheels.

Keep up the good banter - ripper Rita - ST...irrers.

Well I am quietly surprised so far, the age break up is more even than I thought, keep the votes coming :)

There are actually more than I would have expected. When younger I might have gone more for a Sprint 1050, and Bandits are really cheap for how good they are.  You can put up with sporting compromises a lot more when younger. You have to have been there and done that to get towards what you really want.  When younger bikes like the RG500 held my interest a lot more I can tell you, but I kept the sensible all rounder in the GS1000 Suzuki.

I am with Shaun. If I was in a position to I would have/should have bought an ST in the early 90s as it just meets my needs both then and now.

I'm glad I learned my lesson fairly early too.  Back in the UK, although things are changing it's still predominantly a sports bike culture.  I'm glad I've had a FireBlade but I was ready to get rid of it before moving over to Oz.  IMHO, on the road at least, road bikes are just as quick but much more enjoyable due to comfort and practicality.  I wouldn't get another sports bike unless I was going to use it as intended, on the track.

A well-handled ST get through the twisties plenty fast enough and has power to spare.  Sure the Fireblades and Blackbirds are lighter and quicker through the sharp turns but the road goes on a lot longer than the twisties do.  You're not long out of your 20s before an hour hunched over the fuel tank becomes hard work.  That's when the ST loss of flickability for steady enjoyment pays off.

Anyhoo, I detect a  :hijacked  so I'll take my  :spank

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
