Hi Folks I have been trolling through the electrical section trying to determine if all the wires from the police grip switches go to the terminal block at the back of the bike. I want to switch the relay for the led driving lights and was wondering if any of the switches terminate at the front of the bike?

None of the switches terminate at the front, all at the rear. I used the 7,8 switch(position 7)to controll my spot lights. I made up an adapter for the headlight using male/female connectors for the headlight to pick off the high beam, a wire runs from the front to the switch, and back to a relay in the front. I also ran a fused power line to the relay.

If you take off the 'tank" and the air cleaner you can see the connector blocks for the switch. The red one handles the police only switches. As the wires are no longer used you can cut into the harness side of the connector ,give yourself say 75mm to play with, cut and shut which ever you want, colour diags available for the switches.here somewhere.
I have soldered wires to suit and use heat shrink to finish, often use two sizes, one inside the other. A little butane blue pencil flame works well.

I donot recommend cutting and soldering, it can introduce far more problems. Just use the existing connectors and run wire to suit.
Its the professional in me that says this, I am an Avionics tech of 40 or do years.

on STranger,my ST1100 I use switch 4 for an over-ride switch for the thermos fans, 1 for my HID spots and 2 for my LED roo spotters, (offset for road shoulders) with wiring running from the rear ducktail.. :thumbs

Thanks for the info guys, I believe I am now armed with the necessary information to wire the lights. One final question in the rear, with the two terminal blocks from the switches, there is a large bunch of wires with female bullet style connectors. Do you know where these wire go or come from?

Four of them run to the front, two to the left and two to the right. They were for the front strobe lights.
Have a look at the wiring diagram in the ST1100 section. I think it still works.

OK Thanks Brock, That should get me out of trouble. Are the strobe and siren relays usually still in the bikes?

All done, decided to use one wire from the rh strobe set to supply power and the other two for the switch leads (4)from High beam to the relay. All working tickety boo. Now I'm ready to mix it with the marsupials. :runyay Many thanks to all who assisted with the necessary info regarding wires etc. :thumbsup
