Title: Starcom no longer has an agent in Australia
Post by: StinkyPete on March 18, 2021, 06:06:13 AM
Our forum has  a number of users of the hard wired Starcom family of helmet communication systems.   I'm a fan of their hard wired communication sets as there's no bluetooth helmets to be charged, and no buttons to push to initiate a conversation.   The inconvenience of plugging in when we hop on the bike is no big deal.

I've had an old helmet set pack up, and tried to get a replacement from SoundRider, the Aussie Starcom agent, only to find that they have closed shop.   I rang and spoke to the previous owner of Soundrider, and he thought that Starcom in the UK had also closed down.   My email to Starcom UK was promptly answered and they confirmed that they haven't got agent in Oz, but parts and accessories can be purchased direct from their website.

Go to http://www.starcom1.com/index.html (http://www.starcom1.com/index.html)  to purchase Starcom products.

Thanks for the info Pete. I am a Starcom user for much the same reasons as you give above.

I have another Starcom helmet set that I've taken from a spare helmet, and I'll fit to that to my everyday helmet.  Therefore I have no plans to purchase in the near future.   For info, a Universal Helmet Set from Starcom UK is $116 AUD including shipping, which is quite a bit cheaper than the last one I bought from Soundrider.

I've run a few searches using Google and haven't been able to find any Starcom Dealer anywhere.   :fp
My old kit is still working OK, apart from the remote panel which no longer lets me adjust volumes.    Perhaps Starcom as a motorcycle communication system has gone, which would be very disappointing, as a wired headset has significant advantages over a bluetooth battery powered unit.

The wireless units ( the bigger brands any way, cheap ebay stuff doesnt compare) They have a lot of great features, longer battery life , greater range (for bike to bike) and are portable obviously. Thats a benefit for when off the bike, with helmet on.. Which we all do now in the coffee shops....

Starcom have gone   :fp   Well, that's a big disappointment, but I'll keep using mine until one of the helmet sets fail and I'll then consider my options.   The simplicity and "always on" aspect of the hard wired Starcom has always been one of it's great advantages.

If anyone has moved from wired to Bluetooth, do you have second hand Starcom equipment available?

I am in the same position. Am looking for a a spare full face headset.
Should have purchased a spare when I talked about it before.
