Title: Overnighter - Renner Springs - 4-5 October 2014
Post by: WendyL on August 23, 2014, 10:14:00 PM
Going to welcome NTRebel (Paul) to OzSTOC with an NT overnighter to Renner Springs, first weekend in October.  Should be warm enough, and not to humid by then.....

If anyone else is interested, let me know and I'll look into accommodation options etc.

I just had a look at the calendar and it is a possibility I can make it.  Plenty of time before, but have to be back before the Wednesday evening.  And I can do a loop so no repeating roads.  Distinct possibility so I will work on attending.

doesn't look like I'm going to be fit for the 4-5 October - any objection to changing it to the 18th-19th????

My bloody back has flared up again  :cuss :cuss :cuss, getting cortisone shots in a couple of weeks and don't want to risk a last minute cancellation

No, change it if you need to, your health is more important. I will be doing the Ozstoc 1600 on those dates (and an RTE the weekend before) so won't be able to make it (unless the route can be changed a lot!!).

I'm also down for the SS1600 on the 18th Oct.
Let me know what you decide so I can amend or cancel accommodation.

We'll lave it as the 4th-5th. I'll tough it out and just take more painkillers if I need to.

I'm having a leisurely breakfast before heading out, it's only 800km from here, about 6.5 hours riding time at 130km/h, so should easily be there by 4pm

Not sure how the back is going to hold up.  Had extra physio yesterday, and he's taped it for me.  I've got a couple of stick on heat patches if needed, and lots of anti inflammatories.  Booked in for physio again on Monday, then cortisone injections on Tuesday.....

Sooooo looking forward to a long ride though, the pain will be worth it! :runyay :runyay :runyay :runyay :runyay :runyay :runyay :runyay

Had a great ride up from Alice Springs  just taking it easy as I wass getting used to the beaST with trailer behind and didn't know how the 2 would play together. The heat made things interesting with a few rest stops along the way but all up everything went to plan made it to Renner Springs by 4-45pm just ahead of Wendy and yes the territory had 100% attendance also good to see Eastern states represented by Saaz and Lionel thanks guys for making the trip over and making thr event a success it was great to meet you all.
Next event will have to be National Rally in Alice Springs (hint, hint) central to everyone.

Looking fwd to seeing a few more pics posted :p...In the mean time have to congrat Saaz for finding and sending me a pic of where I once lived just south of Renner Springs...brought back a few memories. Will have to touch up some of the old slides when I get home that show what the place looked like when the homestead etc were there.

Would have liked to have gotten up to Renner Springs...think the last time I spent a night there was in 1960 for the local rodeo, held across the road from the pub if memory serves me correctly...maybe next year? :whistle

Envious of ya higher speed limits...the can :-)
