Has anyone used this style of lighting for driving lights on the ST?

Hi Pete, I have a set of spot ones on mine there is 4 led per light and I have them mounted under my mirrors. They give a fair bit of light. I got them from. www.brightlightautoparts.com (http://www.brightlightautoparts.com) part no bl-lb4p. They cost $80.00 each.

After getting the LED brake and indicators lights on the back of the bike this was going to be my next investigation. My only real doubt is the fact that I think these are solid, i.e. they don't bend to accommodate the shape of the Tupperware, so mounting them might well turn into a nightmare, especially as they have to point forwards onto the road at the right angle and location. Might need some SERIOUS thought about this!

The LED Bars are a bit wide/bulky for ST use, the round ones are more compact.

By the way, has anyone else noticed that on the Narva site there does not seem to be a single price list or indication of how much this stuff costs...a simple fact that I would think all visitors would like to know up front.
Neither is there even a passing mention of dollars for anything, at all, anywhere.
Gives me the impression that this stuff is probably insanely expensive to the point where they don't want to put costs anywhere because it will either scare potential customers away or reduce them to hysterical laughter.
Sorry, is this too cynical of me?? :think1

It seems to be that webstores in Australia don't have prices listed so it makes it a pain to try and work out what you can afford. In comparison most US sites have a price listed so you know what you're up for when you find an item you like.
I wish Australian stores would give an idea of the prices for stuff, it would save a lot of stuffing around.

I have a 10watt cree spot and a10 watt cree euro on the front of my bike for driving lights. These are under the mirrors.
There are now also available 4x10watt lights in a round or square casing. These I will mount on top. :wht11

I've put a pair of LED running lights on my STeed. Got them on EBay from a bloke in Bright Vic.
They are single Cree LED and burn your retinas 8)

I deduce you have them on all the time, but put them on a separate switch. What I don't get is how you can have them on without the headlight if they're run off the ignition switch power rather than straight from the battery (or did you just cover the headlight for the "DRL only" photo?)

I have considered using the bar led lights for a long time. They were very expensive but prices have been coming down. The hardest thing is find ones at a reasonable price that are still good value with regards to lumen output and construction. You can buy them in different lengths too. I like the idea of fitting them under the headlight rather than one above each mirror!

Did you have any ideas of how you would mount them under the headlight, Rodd?
I like the idea, just need help visualising the hardware.

There is room under the ST1100 headlight for a LED bar light of 6 to 10". A longer one could be fitted but it wouldn't mold in as well.
There is a flat area under the headlight, and the fairing stay bar is behind this are, so a strong stable mount could be created.
I bought 2 round 18w LED flood lights for the rear of my Land Cruiser for camping and they are surprisingly bright.
You can also get bar lights in a combination of flood and longer range.
It would be interesting to see one of these in action (although it's a bit square and ugly!):

That's certainly a very good price, and having the double mount is a very good idea, rather than a single mount.
I've seen the ones with the combination of flood and spot.
It's a growing market, so it will soon be possible to find exactly the right configuration and price.

It won't. I used to have my airhorn in that position, and it was taller than those lights.

There is a local business here in toowoomba getting into led driving lights and bars for bikes and cars, going to see them at some stage for more info, they have bikes themselves so am curious to find out more

Good Idea! Much better the feel and see the quality than risk getting a crap Chinese one. Not all chinese ones are crap of course but it's difficult to tell by an EEbay photo.
There is a fella in town here that sells led lighting, solar, etc. I'll go for a ride and see what his latest offerings are!

Narva 71822 Compac L.E.D look them up, they seem to be just the bees knees.
Until you get the price... |-i $ 523.60 EACH.
When old mate told me the price I just laughed til I felt sick. He thought it was a good price and the "best deal he could do" :fp

When I can get a strip of 32 LED stoplights posted from Honkers for $4.78 you really have to wonder why the higher powered ones are so much dearer. One would assume it's just a bigger whatsit and therefore brighter. Those $500 ones only have about 5 to 9 LEDS in them.

Just an update on the Narva 71822 Compac L.E.D
Since my last post Many calls have been made to the distributors listed by Narva. Eventualy Quentin from Narva pointed me in the right places.
Of note: No two prices similar.
Burson's in Tamworth and New England Truck Parts Inverell are the only 2 places that would do any enquiry into the product.
Settled on $440 for a kit inc 2x led drivers, 2x lights,2x relays (1x12v, 1x24v), 1x 30amp fuse block, 2x lumes, 2x brackets,fasteners. 1x switch
13w ea, 2600 lumen's ea, drive beam, Looks Horizontal, light starts to diminish after 250mtrs but still very usefull at 500mtrs and cats eyes well into the next decade.
A thin glass band shows from the edge of the lense which throws a wide usable band of light to each side. I like this as its great illumination while manoeuvring among parking lots or as with TDM around bush tracks, creek crossings etc.
I've just finished my version of under mirror brackets from 16mm round SS. The lamps will tuck in close to the body.
