Back in 2014 during the OzSTOC IBA SS1600 ride, I was fortunate enough to be given a lone of ST2UP's Russell Day-Long seat, and to cut a long story short, it was AWESOME :thumbsup
So for some time after I saved and eventually in May of this year I had saved enough.
I took all the measurements and photos they require, placed an order and was given a production date of the 2nd of July.
(The order I made was for both seats (rider & pillion) and was including suspension in the riders seat and a riders backrest :grin)
So I packed up my seats and sent them to the US :thumbsup
Well yesterday they arrived, and they look and feel great :clap :clap :clap
THE SEATS WERE VERY WELL PACKAGED IN THE RUSSELL DAY-LONG FACTORY

You could make an airline-type tray to go in the backrest mount then you wouldn't have to stop for meals as Carol could serve them up as you go.
Interesting Customs description: "Motorcycle seat repaired under warranty"' ;-*

Driver's Backrest $275
Shipping Charge $125

I brought a second set of seats from ST2UP for $200 to use while the my originals were being modified.
It took just under 4weeks total for the whole process.

7 days for delivery back to Australia.
I hope this helps

Yeah it's a pricy bit of kit :eek
But if your under 120kg and don't want the backrest it drops AU$430 off that price.
Then it's just over AU$1000 ;-*

Took the leap of faith today....pics taken, measurements made and order form filled out.
Planning a big wandering expedition for later on this year so i'm hoping my bum will be grateful because it will be a long time before my wallet forgives me :-(((

You won't regret it Duncan ;-*

This is a no win situation question like asking any Lady her weight,so i will learn to tap dance delicately ....
I note in your costing below you paid for the extra seat suspension but according to the Russell website that is for riders over 230 lbs which i work out to be 104.326kg using a conversion table.
The reason i am curious is that i come in at 1kg under the limit & am now a little unsure what to do - the difference being an extra US$45.
I am curious to find out if anyone lighter than this has ridden with your seat or anyone else's for that matter with the extra suspension and what is their impressions ?
-
Can't answer that. I'm skinny

Whatever ST2UP ordered (spring or no spring?) was fine for my 95kg frame.... okay okay 104! |-i

Negative on the spring ;-* I thought it was recommended for 120Kg and greater :think1
Something tells me its not a spring just a heavier weighted foam layer added :think1
-
Yep. Marcus and I are the skinny twins.
-
From the Russell website:
Heavy-Duty Suspension
In most cases adequate outer buttock support is provided in the standard system for the driver and proper combination of foam densities for the passenger. But for drivers weighing 230 lbs or more and passengers weighing 150lbs or more, the Heavy Duty Suspension is required for adequate support. $45.00 per saddle.
Include the additional charge for each Heavy-Duty Suspension that applies in your order form.
If Heavy-Duty Suspension clearly does not apply, do not include it in your order. Like overload springs on a truck, it will result in too stiff a ride if the weight is not there to make it flex.

Talk to Shiney he has the suspension in his seat for his
fat arse body mass

Now THAT was a LoL moment......nearly choked on my latte
-
I do indeed have the extra suspension due to my extra weight (I'm working on it though and am down from 134kg to 122kg :grin)
As for the extra suspension, I believe when I spoke to them they said it was required for riders over 120 kg.
So as your a lightweight :wink1 get it without :thumbsup

This is for those of you who have, or are considering a Russell Daylong Seat from Russell Cycle Products in the US. I always envisaged that their production facility would be a big and busy factory, filling orders from all around the world. Not so!! Here's a Street View image of their very modest facility.
My Beemer seat is there at the moment. :runyay
-
That is interesting. I also would thought it would be a 'significant' facility, being in the USA and all.

As far as I knew it was a family run business

Be sure to remind us about that when we all get there. I'll be in the queue, although my standard seat with an Airhawk under the sheepie is good for 22 hours with 4 x 20 minute breaks.

It looks like you're set, but I got the wide one because it fits the seat, not because my cute butt needs width. It's the 14" as I recall.

Cheers Biggles and a huge Thanks to MARCUS for the airhawk coming my way... you guys rock..
Love the fact that people care still able to help out others and so bloody generous.. i am humbled.

No worries, the trick is working out how much air to put in, some people with a minimal amount of air, I was the opposite I ran with quite a bit of air in there. It's a crab shoot on which you prefer.
-
It's a crab shoot on which you prefer.
You shoot crabs down there? Other places it's a "crap shoot". :crackup
Quote from source:
Craps is a game in which players make wagers on the outcomes of rolls of dice. Because dice tumble randomly and the outcome is not predictable, craps is a game of chance. From this we can infer the meaning of the metaphorical term crap shoot—that is, a situation whose outcome is not predictable.
-
Marcus is a sea changer now Biggles so it could be a crab shoot unless the sewerage outlet is nearby, then it would be a crap shoot.Bondi cigar anyone ?

Oh wow you guys are quick to pick up the on typos hahah

Anyway, no crabs were injured in this exchange. >:()
