This is pretty much the final installment with this project.   The aim was to reduce the heat that Chris was getting on her feet, which was becoming unbearable on a hot day, and after a decent ride today, we seem to have achieved the objective, by attacking the problem from two angles.  The first is to cut out the radiant heat from the exhaust section that is close to the pillion footpegs, and the second is to shield the feet from hot air coming out from under the bike.
Chris is happy with the result, but the new footplates are butt ugly.   :butt   :fp

*  The footplates are fabricated from 4mm aluminium plate, and I've attached the pattern for the shape.  5mm would have been better, as there's a bit of flex.
*  Some 6mm rubber sheet has been stuck onto the plates..
*  The short exhaust wrap is to minimize radiant heat from the exhaust.

G'day Pete - Jeanette hasn't complained about heat at all, and after reading your project report I was wondering why  :think1

I then realised that after fitting the tip over bars, she couldn't quite get her feet flat onto the standard pillion pegs, so we installed a set of MCL pegs that place the feet out wider so the tip over bars don't cause any interference.

She said its a whole lot more comfortable, although it takes a bit more effort when climbing aboard. She says she has no heat issue at all and loves the extra comfortable position. Maybe using those MCL pegs as a template will give Chris a better option  ;-*
Cheers
