Icons on messages
« on: October 30, 2015, 08:19:49 PM »
When I try to drag an icon down to my post, it turns to a web code when it reaches the message area.  It used to work ok, but not now.  Any thoughts?

Philbo,

type your message in the box, then put your mouse arrow over the smiley you want and left click on it
 :Cake2

it will put itself in the message. no need to drag copy or paste.

If you go to modify post on your last post, you will see the code for the white ST that I put there.  Thats what clicking does.

Phil, when you click the icon the code shows up in the text window not the icon.....try clicking on any icon the hit preview to see what you get.

Left clicking over icon is having no effect.  Mouse seems to work ok otherwise.  Could it be windows 10? Tried to modify previous message, but no icon.  Tried various icons, large small, moving (even a blue bike).. No luck, Phil
Checked mouse settings - seems standard

Yep, the plague of Win 10, I reckon.  Not with any shred of technical justification, just prejudice.    :-(((

I'm on Win 7 and seriously considering returning to XP so everything works as it should again.

Have been using Microsoft edge which came with windows 10.  Logged out and back in using windows explorer and .... :wht11
So now the left click is bringing down an icon name, but not the picture.  So it must be something to do with the conversion to windows 10.  That's OK.  No major drama

Philbo, there is a forum setting for WSIWYG (What you see is what you get) in the editor. I can't remember where. That setting has probably been toggled.
Cheers,
Gary

Clicking on the smiley actually places the code for the smiley, not the pic itself. The baord software read the code and replaces it with a pic when the page is read.

The code for the white 1100 is (if this works)  : wht11  you see  :wht11

Brock, when you choose WYSIWYG in the profile when you click on the icon it places an icon. I prefer not to use it because it makes formatting (bold, underline, colour, centre etc) harder to do.

I mostly used Tapatalk now so have to type the code if I want icons. :grin ++ :thumbs opcorn  :popcorn :blu13

Is it possible to get Tapatalk to interpret the code for the icons and formatting?
Cheers,
Gary
