Title: How to make your own runninglights
Post by: Dennis on February 14, 2014, 01:54:59 AM
HAi,

i made a tutorial how to make your own runninglights.
I have seen many, many ways, but always the fact that you had to adjust the socket.
But I found a socket, which you dont have to adjust and which is identical to the honda socket.

Hope you enjoy it and sorry for my english.

Thanks Dennis.

I take it from your article, that you tap into the park light to power the running lights. We have a bit of a problem there, as we dont have parking lights in Oz....

but we do have "always on" headlights, so we'll tap into those.      :grin

Good point Brock - Just connect to ignition on power.
Although I would have concerns regarding the viability of the flickers.

Personally I be more concerned about the amount of rust that I saw in the pictures.  :eek  :eek  :eek

Regardless - Thanks very much Dennis for taking the time to document your efforts and advising us accordingly.
Regards,
A.

Rust?
If you mean the bread disc, yep, can not avoid that. BIke is always outside. No garage here in holland. The price a garaga costs, I can buy a house for in another country. Small house, but still.

If you mean the brown stuff in de lightcaps, that is copper grease.

The front shock absorbers will soon be cleaned and waxed (dont know the english word)

The whole bike will  be taken apart, swingarm will be painted, gastank painted etc etc.

But I am curious which rust you mean. :)

thanks for the compliments!

Hope I'm wrong but the first picture on page 6 shows a number of areas covered with rust? Are you saying that's copper grease? Never heard of it.

I have some in the shed, usually used as an anti seize lubricant.

So what I found was;
Don't use it near rubber - it perishes it
Don't get it on your hands - it contains heavy metals which are absorbed by the body
Don't use in near aluminium - as it hardens it and makes it brittle
Don't get in on your clothes - It's almost impossible to get out and it stains

Sounds like really good stuff to me! :eek  :eek  :eek

You can easily use it on parts which are not moving. In holland it is used for example on the back of the brakepads agains squeacking.

Use it for bolts which dont have to be loosen very often. It will prefend rust.

Absorbed by the body.....dont believe everything. Perhaps it is the truth, but if you breath the air in Holland, you will be sick, if we eat paprika chips we get cancer, we need to take 1 glass of wine for our bloodpressure. If you eat french fries, your health will be hurt.
Drink beer, your liver will go insaine......

These comments, and we have a thousand more in holland, is hurting your health, crazy scientists!

If you take the highway, your max speed is 80km per hour on some parts. Why? Otherwise the air gets polluted. 100 meters further on, you may drive 130 km/h.

Perhaps you can help me out: If there are 2 highways, next to each other, seperated by crashbarrier, and the distance between the 2 highways is about 5 meter.
If you drive on the left highway, you are lucky and you can drive 100 km/h.
3 meters on your right, you may not drive harder then 80km/h.
You know why? Next to this highway, are buildings......and if you drive 100 km/h on this part of the highway, the health of the people in the buildings/houses are in danger.

So i rather have grease on my hands, then this kind of  :OldMan :OldMan :OldMan :OldMan

We hear you Dennis.
If you listen to the news, if you eat, drink, breathe or poo then in 100 years you will get sick and die. I you dont eat, drink, breathe or poo then you wont get sick obviously but for some reason you die quickly.... :||||
