A new spot to drop the dot!
« on: April 03, 2014, 02:37:02 PM »
My new seats from "Top Sellerie" arrived last week and took all of a couple of minutes to fit to the bike.  I thought there might be a bit of stuffing around in fitting them to the bike as they supply complete seats, that is, not fitted to client's OEM supplied bases, as some others do, but made entirely by "Top Sellerie" in France.  Fitting, as it turned out was perfect and I cannot fault the quality of the seats in any respect. Other than a quick trip of about 20kls I haven't had a chance to try them out over a decent distance, and I imagine it's going to take at least 500 - 1000 kls before I can really get an indication of how I rate the comfort of the seat so as I can post a report on it......so that is yet to come!!        But........it will come, Marcus, it will come!! :grin

The "Pan European" stitching looks a little daggy in the photos but it's actually perfectly done and is much better than it appears in the pics.

No problem! :grin

Seat was 220 Euro + shipping 121 Euro.....Total 341 Euro................Approx $510 AUD

You can actually purchase the seats for less by supplying your own OEM base's, but I didn't want to do that as I wanted to keep my original seats intact!

Shipping cost was very expensive, 121 Euro ...$180 AUD but it was extremely well packed in a very large carton with heaps of shredded foam.

The seats are made in a small town in the middle of France, and shipped as follows.............
"Sees" to "Le Manns" to "Versailles" to "Meaux" in France, then to "Cologne" in Germany, then to "New York" then "Lousville" USA, then "Honolulu" then Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Nubeena...............whew!

Hi Todd,

Yes it is mate, "Top Sellerie" make this seat in a lowered version and they actually have some of them in stock. I checked with them before I ordered it as to how much lower than standard they are, and they advised that they are 25mm lower............but I don't think they're quite as much as that. I'll give you more of a report on that once I get round and about on the bike. You do sit right into the seat and I think that it will be a comfortable ride. I have sheepskin covers on my original seats and didn't really find them too uncomfortable, my only reason to purchase this seat was to take me a little closer to the ground, and it does seem to have done that. "Top Sellerie" make seats for every model, of every make of bike, (hundreds) if you're interested just Google, www.topsellerie.com       Choose "Honda" then "Pan European" Check under bargin section on the right of the screen, the reference number of the lowered seat "2202", and they do still have 4 in stock, if you're interested!! :grin

Were they saying "ride height" (you on the seat) or "seat height" (you off the seat) 25mm lower.

I know when I was ringing around the shops mentioned both.
At my age " getting lucky" is remembering what I came in the room for ;)

I checked the seat height against the original before I removed it, I placed a spirit level across the seat then measured the height to the ground, and the difference between the two seats was only 10mm, so I think they must mean, "on the seat" lower!  It certainly feels lower than 10mm anyway! :grin

Thanks Couch

Even 10 mm would be good very bit closer to the ground helps.

I have a friend coming out from France later in the year who will carry one for me.

I forget to ask what is the seat material?

Thanks mate

The thing I note is that the rear of the riders section appears thicker than the OEM. The back rest/support bit. Does this tend to keep you too far forward, read 'sit your sensitive area against the tank'.  :eek
Would those that are interested, after a road report from Couch, be interested in placing a bulk order?  We may get a good bulk buy price. We would have to decide on a shipping location then distribute from there. This would have to be taken into consideration when deciding if that would be an option.Just throwing it out there.
Getting wind in my hair while I still have some.

I was able to take the bike for a bit of a run yesterday, (375kls) so it's given me an indication of how the seat feels. It's definately lower than the stock seat, you sit into the seat rather than on it. Skip, I guess a lot would depend upon the size of one's backside as to whether or not one's sensitive area is pushed against the tank, but I never found it to be a problem, you don't slide forward on the seat.  The seat is "gel" and is quite firm although I found it to be comfortable, but I missed the feel of my sheep skin seat cover that I had on the OEM seat, it seemed to smooth out any road vibration that you'd normally feel through a firm seat. I'll post a further report as I clock up a few further kls and I become more accustomed to the seat. :grin
