Been a great day! (apart from light misty rain for the whole trip)
Bike needed a good run to get the cobwebs out.
So excited to be on two wheels again, I left my camera behind. Left home at 7.20am, heading for Mt Gambier. Not much traffic, so it was enjoyable. Got the wet gear out of the pannier about 15 minutes after leaving home. Discovered that the hand warmer grips are not working, will look at that later.
Had a hot coffee and a short break at Naracoorte servo at 10am, still light misty rain, but not a problem. This is when I realised I had left my camera at home.
Decided to ride through Frances to Goroke, Natimuk and Horsham, about another two hour run, Stopped for 15 minutes at side of road because of a heavy shower, arrived Horsham at 12.25. Short break at Maccas for a burger and another coffee, as it was a tad chilly on the road. Still warmer than Portland, tho..
Pointed the bike south to Cavendish to pass the Grampians on my left, was not keen to go through Halls Gap with the wet roads and arrived Hamilton at 2.05pm. Last leg back to Portland and arrived back home again at 3.15pm.
Bike had a minor miss when I left home, had to use the choke. Never had this problem before, but the problem went away within about 15 minutes. Otherwise it was a faultless run. No more cobwebs!
586 km, and 6 hours 37 minutes by google. With stops for coffee and burgers, this stretched to 7 hours and 55 minutes. A good casual cruise for the day.
