ST1100 and tyres - Pirelli
« on: May 13, 2015, 10:34:31 AM »
So spoke to my local tyre dude regarding tyres for my St11... ABS, DBS, TCS

Currently run Avon's on them. it was what it had when I got them.

Wanted to try Pirellie GT's but was told:   Unfortunately Pirelli don’t list a front tyre for your bike in the ST range they only do a 110/80-18 in the GT’s.  as my current tyre says 120/70 is it ok to get a 110/18 or should I try another brand?

I bet if you asked for the front tyre to suit an ST1300 they'd have one as they're the same size. From the US for about $415 to your door

https://www.jakewilson.com/p/1180/40383/Pirelli-Angel-GT-Front-Motorcycle-Tire
You won't get the 1100 rear but the 1300 rear will fit ok https://www.jakewilson.com/p/1742/40384/Pirelli-Angel-GT-Rear-Motorcycle-Tire

Or buy local from here

http://www.oztyres.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20_53&products_id=219 about $480 a set

As Alan said, 96 on abs models have the wider front tyre the same as the st1300, and others have been able to get the GTs to fit it

As I mentioned previously you won't get the 1100 rear so the next best option for the ABS is the 1300 rear.  You just need to take a little care as you put the wheel/tyre in past the ABS sensor.
I've used that size a couple times and have had no issue with the ABS.

170/60-17

You don't. Even I missed that but it looks like a copy and paste from one of the tyre sites when they list the sizes available.

Don't know about where to get the tyres in Perth but when I needed one on a visit I went to the Rockingham Honda dealer as it was closest to my sister's place.  http://www.rockinghampowersports.com.au/rps/Home.htm That should be the same for any other dealer as well.

Tyres for bike in Vic park, next to the pub, The Honda dealers Joondalup and Midland. Pr4 GTs are they way to go now (in my opinion).

No issue with fitting the tyre to the rim though it will effect your speedo reading a tiny bit. The tyre is a little wider but smaller overall diameter

Yep I get my tyres from there as well...great service...but i love the Bridgestone Battlax T30's...on my second set (I got just over 18,000km from the previous set). But like you Brock...that's my opinion  :thumbs
