I'm only a few months ahead of you in ownership, so still in early stages. 2000 ST1100 I've taken from 37500 to 44600 since mid November last year.
I've just gone from a standard screen with laminar lip (fitted as bought) to a 22" inch screen and have a noticeable difference in ride.
First up, what height are you? I'm around 5.10 and found that I was still buffeted a fair bit, earplugs also a necessity on longer runs (90+ which is my basic ride if commuting, longer for pleasure. Height has a lot to do with the screen effectiveness.
The 22" screen has cut out most of the issues. So if your over 5.10, the lip may not be of tremendous benefit, but haven't ridden with solely the standard screen, compared to standard with lip to 22" screen. Maybe some other riders can advise of the difference in screen height? Alans1100 may have some advice, I think he has gone from standard to 22",with a second 22" screen just fitted I think.
West Aussie Glen has just got in from the UK a number of items, he may have ordered extra gear for just in case as well.
But, if you think the lip may be for you, I now have one in the shed. I'll also be in Melbourne at the end of the month, so may be able to strap it on the bike to bring over for meet up or leave with someone to pick up from.
