They have been involved in organising and participating in charity rides raising money for the Perry Cross Spinal Foundation, a cause very dear to their hearts and the Black Dog Ride, raising awareness about depression and suicide. Each year Shark Leathers gives around $100,000.00 to local motorcycle clubs and gives away motorcycle protective gear to more than 50 young motorcyclists.

Despite a motorcycle accident leaving him a quadriplegic at 19 years of age, Matthew has not been one to let a wheelchair define him. The once former MotoGP champ goes from strength to strength. During his long rehab stint, Matt met other riders who'd broken bones, lost skin and limbs. He was amazed these riders never had the protective leathers his family and sponsors had always paid for. Matt was blown away that a full set of motorcycle leathers would set riders back between $2,000.00 to $3,000.00 so he was determined to set up a business that made safety gear available at an affordable price.
