Hi Guy's, i have sold my st 1100 to a friend who is challenged in the leg department, he would like to be flat footed when stopped, is there a lowering link for the st 1100's.
I have scoured the internet but cant find anything for him that is cheap and easy to do without buying a after market seat or spending money on a new shock. There seem's tp be plenty of lowering links for most other bikes?

No, dont lower he bike. For one thing, the sump will be too low, and the steering geometry will be messed up.

Have your friend go to a motor trimmer, and have them modify the seat to suit him. You can lower the riding position, and improve the comfort.

Get a pair of those tyres that have only about an inch of vertical profile that petrol-heads put on their utes.       :grin

Perhaps get a pair of platform boots made. This will facilitate riding other bikes without adjusting the seats.

As Brock said, just get him to go to an upholster or motor trimmer and have the foam in the seat cut down/lowered to suit his height.

This appears to be the best way to fix the issue for the short guys :thumbs

Thanks guy's, if the seat is lowered doe's it compromise the comfort of the seat and the ride, or can the seat be altered with better quality foam?

The guy who does the work should know how to re do the padding. The foam in my seat was removed, then layered with different foams to keep the seat lower, and improve comfort.

One option to consider depends on the condition of the rear shock.

You can either buy a smaller shock or get the existing one re-built to be smaller. Drop the forks thru the triple clamps the equivalent amount.

Do not alter the suspension, it will destroy the handling and clearance height. It has all been tried before without good results.
