I'm really tossing up between the GoPro Hero 3+ and the Drift Ghost-S.
I'm impressed with the quality of pic with the GoPro Hero 3+

GoPro Hero 3/
Positives:
It marked improvements in video quality and sound over the earlier variants, and better battery life.
Video does really look impressive but hard to compare to the Ghost -s at this stage.
an extra wide lens setting,
can buy it anytime from Autobarn ($499 and in stock).

Middleground:
I guess that I can handle it not having a screen since I wouldn't be watching the screen while riding but can check positioning with my smart phone.

Negatives:
Doesn't look like $500 worth of gear, especially when out of it's waterproof case and no LCD screen built in..
Difficulty in getting power to it unless you pay extra for the special case.
Memory card not included, add $.

Drift Ghost-s
Positives:
I prefer the style of this camera.
Tag feature (continually in record mode then tap the button to save video to card)
Longer battery life than the GoPro Hero 3+
Bit cheaper than the GoPro Hero 3+
Has it's own LCD screen but can still be viewed on a smart phone
(I think that it's handy connecting to the smart phone because if you place the camera on your helmet yuo can't look at the screen for aim!

Middleground:
Gotta wait for it and unknown reliability.. picking at straws!

Negatives:
Gotta wait.
Need the extra waterproof case if you want better underwater pictures because these cameras need the flat outer part of the lens area!

Well my two cents worth Ill throw in.   I have a GoPro hero 3 white and I just purchased the Drift Ghost, not the S model.   I have compared the two in different applications and found the Drift Ghost the better of the two, unless you are diving, then you must buy the extra case.   I was impressed with the ghost because of the rotating lens, the LED screen and the phone app.   I have used the GoPro extensively during deployments overseas with the Army, both helmet mounted and weapon mounted and it did a great job.   Unfortunately the Drift was not available to us at the time.
So I guess it is up to the individual user and what they want.   From memory Brock wrote a good article, with pics, concerning the camera.

We ordered a GOPro Black through one of the Christmas Hamper companies last year and it arrived in todays mail.

But we got the new Hero 4 Silver delivered. The newer cam has a touch screen on the back where previous versions had nothing. The only negative is that for the price one has to pay they could have included a micro SD card so we're unable to use it until we find a genuine card from one of the many e-bay sites.

Now to figure the best place to mount it.
