I went to buy the Shell Helix HX5 diesel oil (yellow container) and was told that it now contained friction modifiers - which are no good for our wet clutch set up. Can anyone verify this or did they just get $75 out of me for Penrite through good salesperson BS?
(HX5 was $52 for 5L now btw)
I did a search online and was unable to confirm whether HX5 oil contained friction modifiers.
But, from my limited understanding of oils, I think you need oils that meet the JASO MA or JASO MA2 standards which, I believe Shell's HX5 oil doesn't meet.
Re being charged $75, I'm assuming you ended up with Penrite's MC-4ST Semi Synthetic Motorcycle Oil from Supercheap???
If that's the case you got stooged as you can buy that very same oil for $64.99 from Autobarn:
